Strange request..

Diagnosed with IPF in Feb.

Prior to starting drugs i have today received a letter from radiology requesting an XRay of both my hands!!!

Just had bloods and second CT scan.

Perhaps it’s a mistake but asking if anyone had similar exp..

Will obv phone Monday to check.

In my limited experience I wonder if they are checking in case anything also with rheumatoid disease can be picked up.

When I was admitted with acuute shortness of breath,during my admission,I had X rays of hands and feet.f

I also had bloods and scans. Perhaps you could ask when you go for X-ray.

Its good they are doing that, xray early, start of taking the drug / treatment and then ongoing monitoring - and ongoing bloods of course.

Hope things work out well for you.

You can always ask for copies of reports from xray, bloods etc, so you can compare yourself.

It could be something they found in your blood test perhaps. A c-reactive protein test measures the level of c-reactive protein (CRP) in your blood. That protein is produced by the liver. It reacts in your bloodstream in response to inflammation. Us with Rheumatoid Arthritis get this test often. They could have also run a Rheumatoid factor test and your markers may have been high. I might be wrong but it's good they're investigating any irregularities. Have a good weekend.
