I spoke to my GP on the phone yesterday and explained I still have breathing problems , this is the same GP who proscribed Prednisolone about 4 weeks ago,he has proscribed antibiotics this time and said "come back if it doesn't clear up in a couple of weeks" This is about 8 or 9 weeks since I had a dry cough and breathing problems, He also said I could have had Covid 19.
I hit the same brick wall before I found a lump on my thyroid,

I'm sorry to read you aren't feeling well. Apart from hypothyroidism have you been diagnosed with any kind of lung disease? I don't know a whole lot about hypothyroidism, but the things I do knows it can cause an enlarged goiter which may interfere with swallowing an breathing. Also another risk factor with your condition would be heart disease and excessive weight gain both of which could contribute to your shortness of breath. When do you have your next visit with your endocrinologist? Maybe it's worth discussing the links between these and your breathing problems.
Of course I don't really know, but maybe it's worth a shot?
Thanks for your reply, the lump on my thyroid doesn't affect my airways, my weight is 84 kg and am 183 cm, Ive had breathing problems for years , every time I catch a cold it goes to my chest and I catch ever bug going every year, some symptoms like breathlessness and heat intolerance are symptoms of hypothyroidism, so its difficult to know weather its my hypothyroidism or something else,
I had a flow meter test years ago. I can blow 650-700 without any difficulty, I can walk on flat but stairs and slopes I have real problems with, my thyroid story is a long one, nobody believed me, I was made to feel, it was all in my head, I could not get any help year after year , you would not believe how happy I was to find a lump, it was only then I received treatment.
I think you need a proper diagnosis. Have you seen a lung specialist? I have taken 3mg of prednisolone daily for a long time now. It has made a real difference to my chronic cough, asthma and bronchiectasis.
Hi. It is possible that you've had a series of viral infections. Before I began to feel better, several different GPs at my surgery prescribed 3 lots of prednisolone back to back and 3 different antibiotics - just in case! My breathing was also very poor for most of that time. My difficult asthma clinic consultant, to whom I was eventually referred on an urgent basis, told me that I'd probably had up to 5 different infections, one after the other. Because of all the steroids, my immune system was compromised and left me open to even more. It's only got better because I'm now shielding and haven't been near anyone else with a virus!
My employer sent me a link for essential workers covid testing, I have a test at 11 am tomorrow, this bout has lasted the longest. I haven't made it past my GP to see a lung specialist I hope the test result will give my GP a pointer as to diagnosis and treatment,
