At Risk

Am I the only bronchiectasis person who hasn’t received an “at risk” letter from GP. Contacted local Practice who said I don’t meet current “at risk” criteria. What is going on?

It has to be severe, tho some here who are severe haven’t had a letter either. There’s an explanation somewhere on the BLF website of what constitutes “severe”. Basically, if your lung function is under 50%, or you’re on oxygen, or you rely on nebulised bronchodilators, you should be shielding. But there’s no advantage to it, unless you want a free food parcel or help with collecting prescriptions etc

Even if you dont have a letter, you can still register for government help.

I've been wondering the exact same thing Monetlover so, thank you for your Post.

I've rung my GP surgery and received no clear explanation except to say letters are still being posted out but no idea on who gets them or when they'll arrive.

So, I went online to the NHS' Coronavirus site and registered myself this morning instead.

I had to give my age, address and NHS number and presumably, they will then decide if I'm to be placed on the NHS's Coronavirus Covid-19 Shielded Patients List or not and will receive a letter in 2-3 days.

Hope this helps. Stay well and keep safe.

P.S. I love your online name; my late mother was an artist and a huge fan of Monet :)

I too paint and Monet is my favourite artist. I, too, will register online. Thanks for info. Keep well.

Hi not all bronchiectasis patients will get a letter my doctor said mine is not classed as severe. Considering the virus attacks the lungs and our lungs are already compromised we should all be at risk. Sorry hope this helps stay safe
