Like most I have had trouble getting online shopping, have seen snippets of information here and there and some mentions on here about Sainsburies. I know that they have said they have a thing with gov.uk for vulnerable people but when I have gone on the website I have found nothing could anyone enlighten me please.

I have had no luck either. I shop online with Asda, Morrison’s and Tesco. No slots with any of them, despite having had a letter and registering on the gov site for the extremely vulnerable. No food parcel either.
Hi Troilus yes it's all very confusing I have been told that there is some sort of code that will allow you to shop with all the big stores online, was also told i could get a code from my gp surgery which turned out to be false.
I received two emails from them saying that they had identified me as vulnerable from “government data,”. But I think it was on age, not medical history, I am 73. But we have been using them for home deliveries for ten years, and there also seems to be an arcane link with having a Nectar card!!
For the people on the extremely vulnerable list that have registered on the gov site. Your local supermarkets will contact you when they receive your details from that site. Could take a week or so for them to do this.
Gov.uk to register.if you are vunerable gp passes onto nhs and then as far as I know on to gov.uk.think that's right then gov.uk pass on to supermarkets. If on list takes time to trickle through
That's my impression too. I registered with Gov.uk a week ago and received text today. Confirms registration, get in touch with gp or consultant if no letter ( had mine a week ago ) and get in touch with council if need help with food or care. I would imagine theres a slightly different version if you need help with shopping ?? ( I have daughter nearby ) .
Hopefully as you trickle through system city council ring yo checking to see if you need help. Gov.uk if on extremely vunerable list you get a brilliant box of food which is lovely. Luckily we are ok. So gave it to our daughter who helps with a food bank at the church she goes to. Then we got food of city council which as the advert says every little helps
I dont know. On re reading text I dont know if I'm on government list even though I had letter from gp . May take time for gp to refer it up? All very confusing. What I find difficult is being so dependant on my daughter , lovely as she is .
If got letter from.gp he has started the ball rolling.but go on Gov.uk and fill in form. And all being well they will have passed you to supermarkets as vunerable.
Yes our lovely daughter would love to help but shes in isolation and our niece wanted to help said thank you but you have the 2 little ones to cope. Dont want to be chasing after us.
Thank you all for your replies did go on gov.uk and have received a parcel but no link for supermarkets as yet maybe I filled form in wrong just need to wait and see.
Fortunately I was acknowledged as vulnerable by Sainsburys as lockdown started and tbh now had weekly online shops.
Finding slots can be time consuming as only notified the first week that they would be coming available.
I received my text too saying to contact GP. She has told me that my medications indicate I don’t fit the strict criteria and I’m not severe enough to be on the ‘Clinically Extremely Vulnerable’ database.
I had a wobble that Sainsburys might change my status as not on database, but although no slots showing I’m going to keep trying and keep fingers crossed the database doesn’t become their only criteria too.
I really appreciate I am so much luckier than so many, as my daughter is only 20 mins away, and have a couple of good neighbours too, but really do hope I can remain independent and like so many of us in it for the long haul even once they decide to lift restrictions.
I had only been out and about 10 days having been in previously for nearly four weeks with chest infection too.
Stay safe and as well as you can everyone and good luck with your shopping. Xx
Received my “Shielding” letter yesterday. I’m wondering if it’s worth trying again to get home deliveries from one of the supermarkets, up to now we have had no luck.
I’ve got Non Specific Pulmonary Fibrosis and my wife is a type 1 Diabetic (since she was 16), We are both relatively fit and up to now have been doing our own shopping.
I don’t really want to take up a slot that could be used for someone more needy, but I guess if either of us did get the virus we’d be in real trouble ?
You definitely need to prioritise taking care of yourselves, so if you haven't already had offers for online slots for vulnerable patients from supermarkets fill in form on site I recommended below to Steveb4257. By the way it may take 1-2 weeks to get slots after filling in form. Good luck and do take care.
Thanks for the reply. I’ve filled in the form and will just have to wait and see what happens.
So far we’ve been using the Waitrose early morning slot for customers over 70 and it’s been very good. We have managed to do a week’s shopping in one visit every time.
As I said, we’re both physically active and take every precaution. I’m not sure that an “official letter” should suddenly make a difference ?
But I would be interested to hear what others think.
Anyway, take care of yourself and your loved ones.
If you received your shielding letter Leon it's good advice for people with underlying medical conditions who may not be able to fight the virus if they get it (it's not about whether you're still physically active etc). Good example is Boris Johnson having to be admitted to ICU!! Don't risk it - no-one knows whether they will have a mild or serious reaction to this virus if they get it. Happy Easter, and good luck with shopping slots.
If we had been offered the opportunity to book home deliveries I might feel differently. But up to now whenever I’ve tried it has failed.
But maybe if they are circulating the names and Nat Insurance numbers of those at most risk things will be different.
It does seem absurd, I can get valuable oxygen delivered to help with my breathing but there was no way of getting a priority slot with any of the supermarkets I tried.
Enjoy your Easter. I’m missing the football but have started some old box sets from the beginning and we’re finding it quite entertaining.
The website you need is gov.uk/coronavirus-extremel.... If you are looking for grocery slots with supermarket/s, when asked you need to say you need help with shopping.
