Hi im fe

Hello, What is IPF? I'm not sure of these shortened versions and trying to build up a list so that I have more understanding. Thanknyou.

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is interstitial lung disease for which no obvious cause can be identified (idiopathic). Interstitial = relating to spaces between cells, tissues, or organs in the body.

Welcome to this group of friendly and informative group of folk, some of whom have Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and will no doubt be along shortly. 🙂

Hi Febe

I have advanced interstitial pulmonary fibrosis and hypertension along with type 2 diabetes, I am 74 and not in any pain as such, with care and the right information and oxygen, you can go on for a very long time, alas too late for me as I have been given months rather than years, but I have a positive attitude and keep smiling, also great support from my family and friends.

I agree all these abbreviations are a real pain.

It's the same with everything else.

The emergency services RTA (road traffic accident)

Electrician's S/S/O (Switched socket outlet)

Keep at it. You will get used to it and Google helps too.

Regards

How I agree with you. It would be useful if the full explanation was used. I know its easier nowdays to use shortened version of words but it can be irritating at times. Im trying to make a list of these to help me understand and build on my knowledge.

Welcome Febe.

My close friend has identical issues to yours. She too was only diagnosed a few months ago and I am constantly amazed when I meet her to see how strong she is and how she copes. I hope that is a little encouragement for you as I don’t have any first hand medical knowledge myself but others here will be able to support you that way. Good wishes and keep posting as this is a “ life changing forum” by way of support.😊 x
