As you probably know, Bananas are suffering from a fungal infection world wide that causes them to go black inside and produces, to me, a horrible taste. Through a process of trial and error I have found that Bananas produced in Columbia are consistently the best for not being infected. On occasion they can be infected though so no guarantee but better odds than the ones from other countries.

A tip on Bananas.
Thanks for the info and I too will be doing some Columbian produce next time I'm on a shopping trip!(sorry but the idea of Columbian produce, made me laugh no end)! Very immature,so apologies all round.
You are supposed to eat them, not snort them up your nose the thought of the sight of a Banana hanging from each nostril has brought tears of laughter. A walrus comes to mind.
I've noticed this in my Tesco bought ones, is it know whether it is harmful to eat the black stuff because I've never be too fussy about a bit of over-ripe stuff! 😲
Not to do with being over ripe, it is the black but still firm part and it will extend through the center seedy part some way too, with a horrible bitter taste and a sort of gritty texture, makes me shudder to think about it.
I know the over ripe is ok it's the other stuff I'm concerned about because it isn't all that clear which is which. It fact I usually give over ripe bits to my dog who isn't as fussy as me.
Thanks Hun, Been happening for Months. I have shopped around for bananas for quite awhile now, as most places, sell them not knowing that they are Black in the middle, have thrown so many away. Just Bought some now at Asda, bought the higher priced ones in hope they are not black, Fingers crossed they will be ok, will let you know. xxx C.
I just love Bananas🍌,I start off with a Banana 🍌each morning.
Thank you for your advice 2greys I shall be checking them out in future. 🤔
Oh gosh. I’m not good at eating fruit. Bananas are the only fruit I do east. So very disappointed about this
I don’t really like bananas but eat them occasionally because I think I ought to. I’ve never paid attention to the country of origin but will have to from now on. What I have noticed is the bananas I buy here are black, crunchy and bitter 🤢 and the bananas I buy in Scandinavia are banana coloured and taste of banana. And I do eat one, or half of one, daily there.
I read somewhere that all bananas are clones of the original Cavendish banana 🍌And this is why they’re getting diseased.
I grew a banana tree once, from seed. It got quite big. I had it several years then one time when I was going away for a few weeks I left it with a friend, with the only instruction to give it plenty of water. She felt it didn’t need any water at all, and it died.
Oh that must have been so maddening ! The comparison I have sounds a bit silly but the trust was the same .... I had a little budgie that had been handed in to the local police station and they gave it to me to look after with a battered old cage that had a wonky door ..... Anyway I left the budge called Tats with flat mate and she let it go free. 😠😠😠😥😥😥
Havent heard of this so must check it out when next buying bananas x
Wil be difficult keeping a straight face when we're all shopping asking for Columbian strain ,nudge nudge wink wink,at least we may meet some fellow followers 😋
