I went for a little spa treat with my dear friend yesterday. On offer as well as our treatments was the use of the gym and pool facilities. My friend made full use of the facilities while I took my time to assess my ability to go for a wee dip in the pool. The temperature of the pool area was warm and inviting (I think it helped that baby swimming lessons were on the go). I left the oxygen aside and made my way into the water. I was not as active as the other pool users (average age was well above mine) in fact I resorted to floating gently on my back when I needed a little rest from swimming. My swimming style has changed - I no longer do the breast stroke with the frog kicks going on with my legs. My body was happy to do some gentle breaststroke while my legs relaxed. I’m beginning to realise it’s not a case of not being able to do the things I once did pre ambulatory oxygen. It’s simply a case of adjusting the style. After the leisurely swim I had a lovely hot stone massage and a fantastic sleep when I got home.

Sounds wonderful 🧜♀️
Sounds so relaxing glad you had a lovely day
Sounds just the job. So glad you enjoyed it. X
Sounds really lovely! xx Moy
I am glad that you had a lovely swim. I swim two or three times a week and have adapted my swimming so that I can carry on. I am not on oxygen but I can't breathe as I used to.
I swim every week too. Glad to hear about your lovely sounding day.
My local pool put something in the water that knocks me out (Chlorine?), very difficult to breath. 😟
Hi Don I was wondering if it would be a bit caustic. I felt ok but that’s not to say no underlying damage is being done. I tried not to swallow any water. That was easy as there were no young children jumping into the pool and I spent my time keeping myself afloat.
Well if you can't smell anything I wouldn't worry. When I attended my first PR it was on the first floor and I couldn't use the lift because of the swimming along side the lift shaft.
Hi let me no how u get on with your 3 day accesment x do u no what tests u havin done x I'm in on wednes for my 3 days n havin heart catheterization n ct thorax scan with contrast which no body seems to have ad x I'm dreading them x how u feeling bout it all x
Yes I too had this problem with local pool. I’m ok abroad in the sea or outdoor swimming pools abroad
That sounds like a really nice experience. I’m missing going to my leisure centre as I’m recovering from a knee replacement op but hoping to get back in December.
I’ve had to adjust my swimming style over the years to cope with knee problems and arthritis. My style is now breast stroke arms and splashing with the left leg while dragging the right one but it does work for me.
When my children were young I took them to an Asthma Swimming club which they enjoyed. One of the coaches had trained Adrian Moorhouse who went on to win an Olympic gold medal. I was told the atmosphere in the pool was very good for asthma sufferers and swimming great for exercising the lungs.
Hope you get to go again soon

Hi Corin
I hope to go again depending on health and need to check consultant is ok with it. As part of the deal I got two complimentary passes to use the facilities again so that’s even better. Not long until December so hopefully you’ll be back making a splash in no time. Wishing you a speedie recovery. 😉
Sounds like heaven BreatheasyBe, what a lovely treat x
