I have been building myself up to go swimming after my workouts as I love it but the smell of the chlorine made me feel sob...over the last 10 weeks when iv been at the gym iv been standing in the changing rooms of the swimming pool each time for 5 mins and increasing it daily to get used to the smell of chlorine ...on holiday I used the sea water and completely loved it ....well today with support of my hubby who can't swim lol I managed 10 lengths after my work out it felt and still does feel fantastic to have done it after such a long time away from the pool hopefully it will continue and I will use the pool at least twice a week ...what I'm trying to say don't ever give up trying or fighting these lung conditions very emotional and tired now lol x

Well done. Glad you got over the smell. Its good when your other half can give you support. Hope you have a decent pair of swimming goggles. What's your favourite stroke. As a qualified swimming instructor, if you want any lessons (free to gorgeous girls) just say the word πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

They are trimming trees in our area and our Internet keeps going in and out, that's not great. Lol

I've been busys, with just your normal getting this and that done. I have some charity meetings today, it's fundraising season.

I hope they get the tree trimming done quickly!!

I feel very good today, except I'm sneezing, alot. Many fall allergens are on high right now, here. Grrrrr....

Have a very Happy day!!!

Xx,

Meg

Awww bless you and your sneezes lol I hope they finished quickly for you really glad your feeling well today .

Do you work for the charities and which ones are they...

The internet will be up and running when the tree surgeons are done that's what my husband did for a living prior to retirement ...

Enjoy the day xxxx

Well done Angie, one of the best forms of exercise, gentle on joints but good for lungs. Hope you're okay after the chlorine. x

The Internet just goes in and out, they must hit something ever so often. I am a volunteer. Just a board member. For the United Way, Paws for a Cause, (animals!!), The Advocacy of Children, and Womens Domestic Violence. 1 has fall, 1 has Christmas time fundraisers, and 2 late winter. I have been invited to the Stop Suicide board. In the middle of writing you the net went off, I took a peek at the trees, they look, sad and crooked. And, now one is being completely cut down. Oh, my!!

Hope to chat with you real soon!!

Xx,

Meg

Angie, sorry to be the voice of doom but is swimming in the pool a good idea if the chlorine affects your breathing ? I know you got used to the smell gradually but my gut feeling is that when a smell irritates your lungs, then it's something to be avoided. As with cigarette smoke and cleaning products. Be careful and keep an eye on your breathing. 🏊🏻🏊🏻🏊🏻

β€’ in reply toBilliejean_2

I will do been fine so far but if I'm affected I won't be swimming again thank you ...your not the voice of doom at all lovley xx

Hi Angie

Glad you had a good holiday. I live next to the sea and go in when I can. More a case of getting smashed by waves but good excercise,

If you like to swim you could see if there is a wild swimming group around that you can join?

Chlorine makes me feel quite ill too!

I’m thinking wet suit and outdoor swimming all winter.

β€’ in reply toLeesea

Now that's an idea I'm close to the beach also will have a look ...where are you in the world xxx

Leesea profile image
Leeseaβ€’ in reply to

I’m in the last bay in north Devon on the Cornish border. My bay is rocky but sand when tide out, just lately been hard to swim but I do a bit of surfing which is good excercise. There are a group of ladies at Hartland quay who go in most days all year round. The quay is safer at high tide.

But there is a sea pool in bude which stays full in winter so I intend to try that. I find the cold water clears any congestion I have.

Must give the heart a shock at times too which can’t be bad.

Good luck

Ah I'm in the new forest on the solent coast line lepe beach area ...i have asked on a Facebook page if there's any groups about that swim sounds like a trip lol xx

Well done Angiecbr, like yourself I have trouble with the chlorine smell at some swimming pools, it starts my cough off. I also need someone with me as I can easily slip. It is so healthy for you especially the lungs and joints. Wish they would start maybe swimming sessions like they do supervised gym sessions at a nominal fee maybe. My older group are saying they would love to go swimming. I can still do a few lengths of breaststroke but cant do diving anymore or front crawl & backstroke. Out of condition I guess. Enjoy your exercise and swimming .

β€’ in reply tokatieoxo60

Thanks Katie ...i was careful to go in with a learner group who are supervised in lanes and swim clockwork round the lanes ....so lane 1 was those who are basic lane 2 step up from basic and so on ...my thing is swimming in water where I can't touch the bottom with my feet I know it sounds silly but I need to be assured terra firma is below or a side i can grab hold of if necessary ...have always been a fairly efficient swimmer but will keep plugging away enjoy i hope you find a class suitable xxxx

might try a learner group myself, we have a new activities centre opening next year which I think has a swimming pool, but there is one not far from me, have to enquire. Hope to mow the lawn today with my new mower. If it rains I will have to do the ironing instead. Enjoy your day.xx

β€’ in reply tokatieoxo60

I just found it easier and more relaxed in a non splash environment lol good luck with the grass cutting my back garden is completely dug up at the moment awaiting shuttering and laying of concrete for a massive shed to house my gym stuff ...enjoy the day xx

katieoxo60 profile image
katieoxo60β€’ in reply to

Well Angiecbr, another week begins, raining here but I managed to mow lawn yesterday and do a bit of ironing. Didn't get the lawn finish needs trimming round edges and another cut when its drier. My back and shoulders gave up so I could not finish, breathing not too good either. Lifting is a problem for me it's depressing when you can't finish things but I make lists and do what I can, but my list never ends. Need a plumbing repair on my outlet pipe to the drain, thats a problem created by the emergency plumber who visited last time, just yanked the pipe off to unblock it now it is leaking down the wall, as it is not sealing. Hope your new shed houses all the things you need and you get many hours of joy from your equipment. Do youi think I could have a swimming pool instead of a lawn, like they do abroad :) :) enjoy your day xx

β€’ in reply tokatieoxo60

Lol I think with the hole in my garden I could have a pool it would be lovley...glad you got your grass cut and the ironing done to me that's 2 jobs you did...so I think you worked hard enough have a lovley restful day iv just been a morning walk and it's very calm and mild here hoping we won't be affected by the storms that are forecast take care also xx
