Hi again all

Not sure what to do next.

Diagnosed with pleurisy a week ago, finished 5 days of steroids, given 2 weeks doxycycline, one week left to go. See previous post from me.

Went back to A&E Tuesday due to pain Much worse. Had bloods, chest x ray and all clear. Even said on listening to my chest it was clear. All good news but the pain is awful. Worse in the evening and after eating. I can’t keep going to hospital and GP. Taking co-codomol every 4 hours can’t take anti inflammatories, rested all day yesterday to see if that would help but no different. any suggestions/help?

Hello Dirty-Dancing

It’s awful isn’t it. Unfortunately one week is no time when you have pleurisy. It can take weeks and weeks for the pain to fade. All you can do is to have patience, rest a lot and keep taking the pain killers.

Yes, it is awful!! What helped me , a hot 🔥 water bottle. And yes, it takes ages to improve. Sending hugs.

I am sorry you are in so much pain.My husband used a scarf as a sort of brace when he needed to cough which reduced the pain.

My brother in law used a kaolin poultice years ago, my sister heated in and put it on a piece of felt then taped it to his back, he said it helped. Check it out first to make sure it is safe to use. It was one of his grandmother's old remedies. Hope you get some relief soon x
