Last night I had very bad chest pain and was today diagnosed with pleurisy. Doctor had ordered me to take paracetamol and ibrupofen constantly until I feel better. My problem at the moment is that the pain in my arm/elbow is worse than my chest. I’m a bit concerned that my elbow is aching so much even with the paracetamol. Anyone else had this?

Oh dear hope you feel better soon. Take it easy and breath well. Maz
What's the pain in the elbow from?
Yes I've had pleurisy more than once. Very painful indeed but only in the lung area.
When I had it I was prescribed antibiotics as well....those didn't work & ended up with pneumonia too. It took several weeks to get over the pleurisy. Months to get over the pneumonia.
I'd strongly advise you to thoroughly read the ibruprofen leaflet - I don't think you can take it with lung diseases or weak stomachs, I certainly can't with asthma. I'm quite surprised the GP told you to take ibruprofen for what may be over two weeks without something to protect your stomach. Good luck, P
I have a number of bouts of pleurisy but I have never had the symptoms you describe in your arm. I have always been told not to take non steroidal as I cannot tolerate them. I find gentle heat helps and rest. I have osteoarthritis in a number of my joints and due to that have bouts of both tennis and golfers elbow. Your symptoms sound very similar. Nobody can diagnose online and the best advice would be to ring 111 for advice.
I do think you should be taking a protector for your tummy being on both paracetamol and ibuprofen and would get checked further for your pains. It doesnt sound right x
Yes it is very painful, mine was in my shoulder and had pneumonia on top 2 and a half days on a drip in hospital ,so keep an eye on it
