That one I actually know, there were a few that grew in the garden of where I lived previously. I really loved them, every year they'd reappear, and their one petal flower fascinated me.

In my community they are are also known as "VARKBLOMME" in the Afrikaans ....English direct translation "PIGFLOWERS"....I suppose it comes from the shape of the flower, for it looks like a pig's drooping ears if you turn it around...nowadays people use as wedding bouquets.....

My favorite flower. Just will not grow here in Queensland. Only in Toowoomba where it is very cold in winter.

My mum had a bouquet of those for her wedding 71 years ago.

Thanks for reminding me . They’re beautiful.

It makes sense...the creamy white lily goes well with a lacy white/cream wedding dress...the wisdom and good taste of older people.....

My Mum had Arum Lilies in her wedding bouquet in December 1939.....we tried to get them for her 50th Wedding Anniversary but failed.

Here in South Africa you find them along riverbanks and wetlands where they grow profusely...they are actually illegal to cut...but poor people do, to sell alongside our roads for survival...no one gets arrested....and I do understand when people do this...there is a a lot of poverty in our country....hopefully it will improve with our new President....

....but that's just the point....I just did not do anything, other than to cut it down to the ground, last summer...God makes things grow!
