Purple blotches..

I'm concerned that a couple of purple blotches on my husband's forearm might be side effects of Trimbow... one about egg size and one smaller, they don't itch and the area isn't tender... has anyone else found this? As Trimbow's proving effective for his severe COPD he'd be reluctant to come off it, but I worry that there might be risks.

I'm on trimbow and find it good for me but i had blotches long before i started trimbow.

Being on prednisone for a long time caused mine.

Directly related to steroids. Mine sometimes look awful but actually cause no problems.

I only have to rub my arm on something and I look as if I have been beaten up!

Same here, you should have seen my arms from rope slaps when we went on a sailing holiday, covered in them.

Thanks chaps, yes he was on steroids by mouth for several months prior to being prescribed Trimbow; it sounds as though it won't be necessary to change to something else that mightn't suit him so well, which was my main worry. I'd like to persuade him to take a holiday, but as he also suffers from anxiety/depression he's best off at home... fortunately the beautiful Isle of Wight... Cheers!

The thing to beware of, because of the skin thinning, is skin tearing. I currently have tears on both arms near the elbows from losing my balance caused by an ear infection.

Ouch 2g that sounds painful. I had labrythitis that lasted almost 4 years so know only too well about balance. I always have a few Serc in my bag, just in case and have Stemetil in at home, hope you got to grips with that ear infection x

No not really painful, both the ear and the tears. The constant racket going on inside my ear is really annoying though.

Hi 2gs... a true caulkhead I rarely cross to 'North Island' but when I do, o the joy of boarding the return ferry! Thank you for your comment, p'raps we don't need to mention it til his next appointment.

Quite possibly. I had this too when on Seretide. I took to wearing Tubigrip on my arms for protection during any activities, sometimes a double layer.

Been on Fostair for about 2.5 years and amazingly my skin has toughened up again. Thrilled would be putting it mildly.

I wonder if its the steroid in the inhaler that is causing this, speak with your doctor/nurse, most of the inhalers contain steroids now, but if it is helping his copd it would be a shame to change, as its difficult to find one that suits x

Hi Pippers, O'er here it is called blood puddling. After taking aspirin, within a dAy or two I have them on my hands. Thin skin doesn't help the matter.

I’m covered in red skin blotches, not very glam! I’ve only got to be with the 4 year old twin grandsons for half an hour, and I’ve got bruises all over my legs, where they bump into me. I don’t wear short sleeves or short skirts any more, particularly as my skin is so wrinkly with no fat underneath. I’m losing weight with the struggle to breathe, down to 7 st 6 now. Hey ho, I’m still alive in spite of it all!

I get covered in purple blotches /bruises on my limbs. I was told its due to the steroids . Mine can hurt like bruises. I look like a beaten wife at times x

Thank you all for helpful comments.. seems the blotches/blood puddles mightn't necessarily mean coming off Trimbow, which is suiting my husband well, and that it's safe to wait until his next check-up rather than report the blotches now. Cheers...
