In my recent post on my garden a number of you lovely people noted that I had been complaining of sciatica and mentioned that they too had suffered with it at times. I think I would be remiss and uncharitable if I didn't share how mine cleared up -- rather miraculously, I might add. After seeing my PCP and an orthopedic surgeon I decided, in desperation, to see a chiropractor. On my second visit to him, he performed some sort of brutal body slam on me that hurt like hell. I yelped in pain and was quite angry with him. I walked out of there hurting and vowed never to return. And then. And then ... the next day the pain was GONE! And I mean totally gone. And it has stayed gone, though I would be foolish to suppose that it won't return again, because that is the nature of sciatica. I later told the orthopedic guy about this and he thought seeing the chiropractor was a good idea. Anyway, I had always though chiropractors were quacks, but my eyes have been opened. So, if you are suffering from sciatica you might want to look into this therapy. One note, I have been told not all chiropractors are the same, so you might need to do a little homework to find a good one.

Sciatica recommendation
The trouble with the Sciatic nerve is muscles surrounding it,totally unrelated to the spine ,once inflamed and pushing on the nerve can create the same pain and effect which is what has recently happened to me,not pleasant and very debilitating from whatever source.
The pain is terrible challny so I’m really pleased you found a good chiropractor to help you.
Pete is in constant pain from a herniated disc which has trapped the sciatic nerve. His pain never goes away. Xxxxxz
sassy59 has Pete tried a chiropractor?
No because he has osteoporosis challny. Xxx
@sassy59 Poor Pete. I hope they at least give him some good pain meds to make him comfortable.
Pete takes Gabapentin but it doesn’t work for long. I hope someone can help him one day. Xxxxx
I just chanced on this Carole and after my experience in dealing with Cecilia's stroke related neurological pain, she initially had Pregablin and they changed it to Gaberpentin, imo Pregablin is a far better drug but i believe it is also more expensive and is precluded from people with heart conditions?
Love Ski's and Scruff's x
Hope your sciatica relief continues to be good for a long time. Best wishes.
RedSox I cannot emphasize enough what this guy did for me. For two months I was in constant and severe pain in any position. Two visits with this guy and the pain was gone. By the way, I've been meaning to ask you what meds you take for emphysema. I know that you are a proponent of the idea that emphysema is quite different from chronic bronchitis, and I totally agree with you, yet everything is lumped together under the COPD banner. It seems to me that none of my inhalers really make much difference; same with prednisone. What is your opinion, if I might ask?
There's another form of chiropractic too, it's called McTimoney Chiropractic and is a gentler form if anyone doesn't fancy being man (or woman) handled.
The trick is going to see someone very early on, if you leave it & leave it it'll take much longer to get sorted (therefore much more costly).
Hi chally I’m delighted to hear that you’re finally out of pain regarding the siatica, I know you suffered so much with it , so happy youv found help at last. 👍 all the best and take care 🌹🌹
If not good with pain you might try Turmeric with Curcumin ???
Also with Arthritis.
I have heard about this but unsure as how to go about it, I know there are pills which are quite expensive or do you use natural ingredients and take them somehow, thanks
I use e-bay fore most supplements because l can check
them on site.ie whether natural or not,if they contain curcumin
and as prices are so varied,l can buy the cheapest which have
the quality needed. This is one l use No. 142661501225,can get
different amounts at a time.
Thanks for the reply RedSox ... I don't take any supplements. I try to exercise but sometimes that's hard to do. Especially here on the Gulf Coast. I walked 2 days last week, about 2 miles each time. But yesterday it must have been 95 degrees, which sort of discourages one from lacing up their sneakers. I use Spiriva Respimat, Symbicort and Ventolin. I'm pretty good about taking the Spiriva every day but often skip the Symbicort. I really don't think any of them help, to be honest. I need to exercise more and eat less because I'm gaining a lot of weight. Up to 220 pounds.
Thanks challny, I'm glad you found someone who could help, and hope you have long term relief. The problem in the UK is finding a good one, but think next time I am suffering will try this option x
Wow, I have been suffering from sciatica for two months now and I will definitely look around for a good Chiropractor. Very many thanks. Lilianne. x
I used to go to a chiropractor for various problems, including frozen shoulder, and he cured it by manipulation as you describe. Much better than the physiothlerapy and pain killing injections, and safer than manipulation under anaesthetic. I am glad you are feeling so much better xx
RedSox you seem to manage your condition so well, which leads me to ask why you say you don't exercise more. When I was first diagnosed 2 and a half years ago, I really tried to exercise a lot. I still try, but it has gotten harder, especially in this brutal Gulf Coast heat. I mowed my partner's (woman) lawn yesterday and am about to go out and do mine (we live a block apart) I try to walk about 2 miles when I can. A year ago I could walk 5 miles. I also had to give up golf, which breaks my heart. Just a few short years ago I could walk 27 holes carrying my bag on my shoulder. I really miss golf, and I was terrible at it, I might add.
RedSox My God, I went out and walked today at about 1:30 p.m. Temp over 90 degrees. I did more than a mile, but it was not easy. I would love to improve my diet but have not made strides in that direction.
