2 nodules
Hi Peppy05. I have a dozen such nodules with one that grew to 27 mm and suddenly stopped (it is still there). Another one did end up as cancerous and was treated with SABR, a type of radiotherapy, 14 months ago and now in remission.
Next year is in reality just 5 months away. In my personal experience another CT Scan after 6 months is about right to see if it has grown. I do understand your frustration and concern having been there a few times myself.
A lot of us here have nodules and for the vast majority they are just benign. Worry will make you unwell and IF you do need treatment, surgery, radiotherapy or chemo you will need your strength to recover, if you smoke then now is the time to quit, nicotine interferes with any recovery process.
High peppy ,exact the same as me except I had only one nodual 4mm ,four years ago it was found through a scan, consultant said same to me ,look at it in one years time ,this was done by another scan ot had stayed the same,so she wasnt bothered about it,it has been left alone, consultant told me thousand of people have nodules and dont no they have them ,and said not to worry ,I would like another scan though to make sure as that was a few years ago
when i had my last ct scan in 2016 consultant said i had numerous nodules all non cancerous just had another ct scan last week still ok dont worry.
40% of all people who have chest CT scans have nodules; more than half in ex/smokers - but only a small % turn out to be cancerous. The non invasive way to detect potential malignancy is CT scans at intervals to see if they grow. No growth = no cancer.
Small nodules are very unlikely to be cancer.. they're just making sure by monitoring.
