Consultant Respiratory Physician looked at my CT scan and said he will repeat scan in 12 weeks to ensure remain unchanged or even resolve but they have inflammatory appearance. No one seems concerned about this but should I be? It could mean infection somewhere or even in lung but should i just trust and leave things until next scan?
The nodules were three of 7mm and 9 mm
Thanks

There is little else you can do, a 3 months wait is standard practice. I have exactly the same going on at the moment, I have 10 weeks to go myself over yet another new nodule, I now have 13 of them. One was cancerous and treated with radiotherapy 2 years ago. Another has constricted a Bronchiole closing off a section my top right lobe. My new nodule is in the same lobe. You can certainly relax a little, almost all nodules are benign, some will even disappear. Inflammation with a nodule is not unusual either.
If you do have cancer it will have been caught early, which will mean they will have an excellent chance of curing you. I know this is a worrying time, but you cannot, must not let it rule your life. It always takes a little time for any worry to subside. Believe me I have been in that same place quite a few times before and now once again.
All good advice but i don't know how long they have been there as they were found during an angiogram but i hear what you are saying.
Ive put it to the back of my mind except ive been coughing a lot for months now but that might be that my COPD isnt under control.
How did they know one of yrs was cancerous but not the rest?
They found ‘dots or small modules’ years ago like over ten years so i guess this is reassuring in that way but again it seems they have grown so i feel a bit confused to be honest.
Sorry for all youve been through and thanks for your help and advice!

I have been having regular Scans as being at high risk for cancer When another new nodule appeared and subsequently grew quickly after 3 months, a PET Scan was immediately ordered to spot for any activity, which was positive. A PET Scan is usually across the whole body to check for cancerous activity, just in case, as well. I did not have a needle biopsy done as the tumour was in an awkward spot and deemed to cause more damage than good.
Just been through this myself. I managed not to worry for the three months but got myself really worried waiting for the results of the second scan. The “area of nodularity” had completely resolved. I believe this is often the case but the relief was huge. No point me saying not to worry but I would say that you should try not to let it take over. Life’s too short to waste three months of it, probably needlessly. Good luck.
Yeah im quite good at staying calm and not a worrier by nature but just needed some reassurances as its all been done by letter and no one to talk to because it was an internal referral from Cardiology.
Speaking about our worries on here does help and thanks for taking the time to reply!
