As a disabled war pensioner with bronciecsasis am I entitled to cheaper gas/electric bills as my bills at the moment are big as I have been putting the central heating on full time.Does anybody have any experience with the companies concerned as I have been told I am on the cheapest tarrif but I think the bills are far to excessive.

Electric and gas bills
Hi you could always get advice on this, maybe the admin team here could help. Good luck have a lovely day and take care of yourself 😊 Bernadette xx
Hi
If you meet the criteria there is the warm home discount.
gov.uk/the-warm-home-discou...
Which is separate from the winter fuel payment.
Also try.
Stone has come up with some very useful links, which I hope will give you some answers. You could also try calling Biddy, who is the BLF Specialist Advisor and will be able to advise you. See her post here, which gives you the hours she is available - healthunlocked.com/blf/post........
Good luck - let us know how you get on.
I would add to stone-UK list of helpful agencies, ssafa.org.uk (armed forces), local branches of Citizens Advice and Age UK. I have found all of these very helpful, when extra help and advice is needed. One time the Citizens Advice sent a member of staff to support someone who was challenging the refusal of a benefit.
All the above suggestions are good, in my experience I found having a fixed monthly payment worked out cheapest in the long term for those on low income. I have a three year fixed with Shell Energy formally First Utility, it compares well with others and no price rises for three years. They look for the best offer for you at the end of the three years I also claim the warm home discount which is currently £140 paid in January which has to be claimed from your electric company once a year unless you are on pension credit.Might I wish you good luck with getting a better deal but do try getting help to sort it out , even local councils can help on these things nowadays.
Hi, I am with EON, they are part of the warm home scheme (not sure if this is age restricted) which they told me about you have to apply and as I qualify I get £140 a year this is paid straight into my energy account and it really helps. Not sure what the criteria is but you can google it also not energy companies are part of it. Good luck.
Martin Lewis website moneysavingexpert has an excellent benefits checker and an energy change thingy, they let you know anytime you can get cheaper supply.
Wishing you well, Scouse
I am ex military and on the warm home discount. Each of the main companies run it in a slightly different way. Best way is to Google your provider and the words warm home discount. That should get you the telephone number to ring. There are three ways to fill in the form. Online, over the phone or you can get them to send the form to you. I suggest you contact SSAFA locally. As an ex serviceman they will help you not just with heating advice but you may be entitled to other benefits as well.
0800 731 4880 is the number to ring to get in touch. Whilst I was in the army I gave one days pay a year to SSAFA. We all did. It's there it help.
