Thank again for the link. I think a widowed friend would qualify......have I understood it right though? If her electricity company is part of the scheme she will automatically get a letter....she does not have to apply unless no letter arrives.

I heard about this a couple of years ago and rang up British Gas which I have both my electric and gas with. They can give you the best tariff for your income, benefits you are on etc. I qualified for this because of low income and they automatically send me this rebate.

I think all the big utility companies do a similar scheme. I got £140 coz I have electric and gas with the same supplier. I think you get less unless you have dual fuel.

It is definitely worth ringing up to check. x

it doesn't matter if your a dual customer or not you still get the £140,00 we have been getting it for last 3 years it has gone up a bit sinch first year we only have electric and we are with southern electric

Ok I take that on board. When I first got mine a couple of years ago British Gas told me I got half for electric and half for gas and I got a bit more for dual fuel. x

yes as long as she gets pension credits if she is under pension age and is calming disability benefits she would have to fill in a form from her electric company its a simple form and well worth the few minutes to fill it in . Even working family's who are on low income can get it .

I am single and not on any state benefits but get it due to low income. I am not working. x

Yes you get the money regardless of dual fuel, because you get it for your electric, but once it hits your account if you are dual fuel you can pay your gas too. You MIGHT get notified automatically but don't leave it to chance, get in touch with your supplier, because it has to be applied for EACH year by a certain time, or you miss out.

This has been going on sinch 2011 its through the government and the energy companies and if this government is going to give any thing back grab it with both hands .Isn't it funny how when they set up these schemes they don't broad cast it very much so a lot of people who had been entitled to it miss out .
