I was diagnosed with mild Copd about 6 years ago and think I have tried every inhaler available. I am not sure how they are supposed to make me feel. I don't have flare-ups but I always get breathless walking down the road or any doing light housework etc.

Do any of the inhalers stop the breathlessness or not, I'm not sure what to expect my GP just keeps giving me different inhalers.

At the moment I use Ventolin Evohaler to open my lungs then my new one is Eklira Genuair 322 I have been using this just over a week it has done a thing.

Any suggestions or advice

Has it got worse over the 6 years? If not then maybe the inhalers are doing more than you think

Hello, I would not recommend any specific inhaler as we are all different. Your symptoms are similar to mine but I have a persitant cough too. I found that the drug used in cold remedies releives the breathing plus finding other ways to do things that don't provoke breathing so less demand is put on the lungs. I get an odd flare up now and then but very rarely see my GP for this condition. Recently I ended up at hospital due to a changed inhaler which worsened my blood pressure , cough and breathing. So always beware when changing inhalers as they can make you worse if they don't suit good luck with finding a suitable one for you it took me two years as the one that did work was taken off the market for prescription purpose but is still used in hospital in breathing tests.

In 6 years I would have had 9 spirometry tests - what's happened to yours? Even if you don't have spirometry, the asthma nurse will have a machine to measure the basics like peak flow, so you can judge your progress with that, at least to a certain extent. But simply changing inhalers randomly doesn't seem to be a very scientific way of dealing with a disease!

At least with my experience inhalers help but it is not a drastic difference and doesn’t eliminate the shortness of breath completely or even close to that but does help. It can also take a few weeks to feel the full effects of a new inhaler. If I stop taking mine for a week I can certainly tell the difference. I don’t know what your lung function is but was told if your FEV1% of predicted is above 60% you may not feel much benefit from inhalers but suspect others may have had different experiences.
