Hi my name is stephanie I have very severe copd and bronchitis. Iv recently been getting white frothy mucus mainly of a night.its just white froth no other colour sputum does anyone know what it means please.

Hello Stephanie, good to hear from you. My husband Pete gets clear frothy mucus in the evening and he says it’s from the lungs. He feels fine and isn’t troubled by it.

It’s often a sign of pulmonary edema, I would get this checked out

I get this. My ild nurses said white frothy tends to come from sinuses, which surprised me but it does fit with where it feels it comes from. It drips into my lungs and then I have trouble clearing it.

Please go to your GP, this could mean fluid on your lung caused by your heart (don't panic it may not be) so just get it checked out. Don't assume anything is 'just another symptom of COPD'.
