Yes folks, at last after 8 months I have been awarded PIP.(full rate for care, standard for mobility) I'm very pleased, especially as I have received a backdated lump sum.
However just as an aside: I cannot be awarded the higher rate for mobility as my changes in mobility needs occurred after I reached pensionable age. Yet in the section on Equality and Diversity it states "We are committed to treating people fairly, regardless of their disability, ethnicity...age, .... Please contact us if you have any concerns.
I wonder what they would say if all the pensioners amongst us contacted them and claimed discrimination?

Congratulations. I completely agree with you. The cut off age of 65 is ridiculous and discrimitory. Just when we need our cars more the government decides that we will be staying at home because we are officially decrepit.
Way to go wheezyof ,very pleased for you and totally in agreement with you about the age discrimination, thank goodness i got my PIP just before my 65th birthday.it may well be worth researching if there is a group action/petition in the offing to redress this issue.
Hi I dnt get anything, my daughter was with me at the medical the nurse told a lot of lies my daughter has wrote a letter I sent a doctors letter I’m still waiting for reply
Hang in there. Get all the help you can to appeal.
PIP claims are a nightmare. The rules are strange. I believe that our own doctors, consultants and nurses are being brushed aside and the PIP is being paid out on the say so of people who don't know us. It's wrong. How can they ignore the opinion of our medical teams?
