What a crazy time! I have been poorly with a nasty virus for three weeks and had two weeks off work (most unlike me), luckily I’m not the poorly person in our household.
Meanwhile, my very sick partner who is on oxygen 24 hours a day and still manages to work for a living , trudges on! I Woke up on Thursday morning expecting to celebrate my birthday with Paul and my kids ( age 12 and 13) only to find Paul is feeling really unwell. After a quick call to the transplant team it was decided to get him to the hospital to be checked.
The hospital staff were amazing and acted very rapidly to take care of him and try to find out what’s wrong. They admitted him and started administering antibiotics as a precaution, thinking maybe he’s caught my virus, although test results are inconclusive. Worryingly they seem to feel that Paul’s shortness of breath is more due to a progression of his illness (ILD, fibrosis and sarcoidosis).
On the way back from the hospital on Thursday night, Paul called me th say he’d just had a call from th QE hospital to confirm that he’s now officially on the lung transplant list!
Talk about a crazy day! It was sad to spend my birthday in the resuscitation department without my kids, and watching Paul struggling, but I could not have asked for a better gift that getting such positive news from the QE.... life has some funny ways!
Anyway, here’s looking forwards to the next stages... getting my wonderful man home next week, taking steps to wrap our business up so he no longer has to work and keeping him fit and well for when that life changing call finally comes for real!!
Thanks for letting me vent everyone, I guess it’s only you guys who really understands the enormity of what our family is actually dealing with, and how difficult it is to make decisions on working, finances and what’s best to do for the future.
I’ll keep you updated......
thanks
