Have just recieved a date on my lung transplant assessment at the QE. 26th feb so along with Elvis everything is rocking in this house. I know its only another step along the rd but its a great big step in the right direction to hopefully getting back to some kind of normal life. 2 and a half years ago a double peumonia almost took my life away. It was so close that after a month of being fully sedated with every life support machine known to man attatched to my body my wife was given the news that i was'nt going to make it. Well I did make it and have since been nominated to carry the olympic torch, attended my daughters 21st birthday party, seen my wife's 50th birthday, etc etc and now thanks to the amaizing miracle workers who work for the NHS there is hope for the future. ROCK ON!! Elvis will now leave the building with a great big smile on his face.

Thanks Wendells, Ive got an extra spring in my step today and long may it continue. I'm a man on a mission and thats to one day return to work and provide for my family again. I also want to return one day to worcs ITU unit and show them that there brilliant efforts to save and rebuild me wern't wasted. I may be asking a lot but you've just got to remain positive and dream a little.
That sounds like a good laugh. The transplant co-ordinator has told me to wear some suitable shoes so they can do a 6 minute walk test on me. My main worry is that they may want to section me if I turned up in the full on Elvis suit!! It seems as though I can talk the talk so lets hope I can walk the walk! Now wheres that old Elvis CD, You can do anything but don't step on my blue suede shoes Yeh!

Thanks auntymary I quess I'm gonna need all the luck I can get.
Good luck, I had my assessment in February last year and went on the list in August (slight problem hence the delay). I am now patiently waiting but getting more breathless so hoping it will happen soon. A colleague who was with me for the assessment had her transplant in October successfully.
I am sure your positive attitude, together with your sense of humour (and let's face it, anyone who is into Elvis has a "sense" of humour!!) are your best aids in your fight for health. My very best wishes to go you and your wife. Life can't have been easy for her either. Summer is on it's way and bright times for you two.
Chris
