Hi sunnyjoi68, I know it's very frustrating and annoying. But we all with COPD suffering from a long recovery. Best would be to go back to your GP and get it sorted, maybe with steorids it will clear up better. Did you only got antibiotics? Wishing you that you get well again soon 😘 there is always light at the end of the tunnel. 🍀🍀🍀

I would definitely go back to the doctors to tell them that you still having problems to get rid of the infection. I know it's annoying to go back again, but it's not any good that you still have an infection, it can worsen if it gets not controlled, doing more harm to you lungs. Also it's seems that the antibiotics do not work anymore on its own. Most all of us with our COPD and asthma get both to clean out bacteria with the antibiotics and to clear the inflammation with the steorids.

So it's maybe better to get some steorids to clear up the sputum you still have. All the best honey that you get rid of this infection....🌹🌹🌹

It maybe that you haddent fully recovered from the first infection and it took a while to take hold again a sample of sputum will help to get the right antibiotics

Hi I’m so sorry you’ve had that to cope with.. it’s awful how much these things affect you. The tiredness is terrible too. Hope your feeling ok soon and not as weary . Hugs to you x

Hi Sunny, I'd say the original infection hasn't cleared, I think you need to go back to doc, take a sputum sample if you are bringing up discoloured mucus, (need to be in one of the sterile pots first one in the morning and get to the surgery before mid day, the GP can advise) then the bug can be identified. Your next course of ABs should be different to amoxicillan and for 10 days to 2 weeks to be sure the bug is well and truly prevented from breeding further. Sooner you get back to dock the better.

I had one awful year where I went through 6 lots of ABs and it ended in pneumonia, I was poorly 7months+ hopefully you can stop your bug in its tracks and you won't have to endure the same.

Hope you are feeling better real soon.

Best wishes BK

Thanks Mel and Sunny, it was about 2 years ago now I was real bad, from cold to lung infection , viral bronchitis, flu, pneumonia, one after the other. It left with me with more lung damage but generally I am ok now :) Sun is shining here 13C high so I shall be going out for a wander around the garden :) Have a great day everyone and anyone feeling poorly, hope you will soon be feel much better. xox BK

Hi Sunnyjo68

So sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time.

Sadly this condition can wreck havoc with our lives and can be so emotionally draining.

I have only recently learned, from others on this forum, to be more assertive when I am not feeling well. So all thebbest that you get an early appointment to resolve this for you

Good wishes that you feel better very soon.

Hi, Maybe amoxicillin is not the antibiotic for you, Get your GP to try you on clarithromycin

(Spelling maybe wrong) that seems to work better on my chest infections.

Sorry to hear that you have been put through the mill. I have just been on a marathon antibiotics chase. 5 weeks of antibiotics and even more of steroids. With the help of the wonderful folk here I was able to finally start getting over it this past week.

Sputum tests are the best way to get treatment. With hospital test the GP can give you the correct antibiotics the first time.

Good luck, Rib

Supposedly the inCourage Airway Clearance Therapy is good. I am going to ask the doctor about the vest, and it is covered by medicare with a prescription. Supposedly it is suppose to help people who have COPD (along with all the other aides for COPD...might just add this one to the nebulizer, oxygen machine , inhaler, etc..). Has anyone heard any reviews or have one of these Vests from inCourage Airway Clearance Therapy? It is put out by Respiratory Technologies, Inc.

Hi again,

Then go for it again it should shorten your discomfort.remember to TELL th GP that's what you want, another useful antibiotic is Doxycycline (Watch spelling again).

I too am experiencing the same as you. I had a horrific infection for which I was sent to hospital. I was given Amoxicillin intravenously and then sent home with a weeks supply and steroids. This was ok for 2 weeks and then the infection came back so I took my Doxycycline and steroids rescue pack. I felt ok for a couple of weeks snd now the infection has returned. Running out of options here. I will make another appointmentbto see my doctor and hope that it can be resolved this time.

Great forum and reassuring to know that I am not the only one suffering, lol!
