I went to see the Nurse on Tuesday, who gave me some amoxcillin, as she said I had a lower respiratory infection. She was really nice and I felt quite positive. However, 3 days on, from starting the anti-biotics, I am feeling very cold, not to touch, but inside my body, if that makes any sense. I had pneumonia 3 years ago and had the same coldness, before the infection took a hold. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what would you do?
I have severe/very severe emphysema and am a bit underweight, so I hope I don't sound too paranoid.
Looking forward to hearing from you more knowledgeable folks.

You don’t sound too paranoid. I get a very bad chest infection easily from any virus I’m exposed to. I’m on an azythromicin regimen 3x a week. I take it daily along with prednisone if I’m getting sick.
Thank you for your advice. The last respiratory nurse I saw said I did not need emergency antibiotics or steroids. Interestingly, the nurse I saw on Tuesday told me to make an appointment with a different resp nurse.
Paranoid be damned!! You need to be in control of your condition and seeking information is the opposite of paranoid.
You are severe/very severe and your nurse said you dont need an emergency pack? What is she thinking? As far as I remember this is stipulated in the NHS copd pathway.
Im sure our member Stone will come up with that for you.
But in your case, see a doctor urgently. Pneumonia gets worse if allowed to develop so I would say that you should act urgently and so should your GP.
Basically you can't afford not to be paranoid. You know your own body and the experiences you have had with it. I agree with Happylondon - don't delay- see a doctor.
I echo O2Trees and if it is Pneumonia or even suspect it might be, please do not hesitate to take action. I did 3 years ago and ended up in ICU for 19 days and a month in Hospital.
Try hot lemon when I'm feeling cold and shiverey I find hot lemon works. Or maybe antibiotics not working I had amoxicillin kept having to go back to the doctors in the end I pushed for a different antibiotic and these work well. If get worse during the evening ring 111 or see if a good nights sleep will work if not docs and also ask for some Fortisip drinks these will help with weight. (PS THEY TASTE GOOD TOO ).
