Using nebuliser
Hi
As Ventolin is a prescription drug, it should be marked on the phial, Did you GP not give you instructions, is it part of your rescue pack?
Hi stone no it just says inhale one puff 3 or 4 times a day maybe I should ask my respiratory nurse ?? Thanks m8
It sounds as though you have a ventolin inhaler, not a nebuliser. You take between 3 and 4 puffs each day depending on how much you feel you need it.
Thanks lottlpom it’s def a nebuliser med and got the machine is a liquid that I put in it . but the label on the box says take 3 or 4 puffs a day as required??
Oh how strange! It seems that people do it as many times as they need. I know one member who does it four times. I do it twice with saline. I think that your idea to ask your respiratory nurse of GP is probably the best.
The bronchodilator effect of Salbutamol lasts for up to four hours so in theory you should be able to take it four hourly. It can have side effects, the most common being fast heart rate and palpitations. Read the insert that comes with the drug because all the information is there.
Thanks Bella I will and only worry as I will have to keep asking for meds to use in it
Get the GP to put it on repeat for you, dependant on how many per day you settle on.
If taken four hourly, it comes to 5 or 6 nebules per day. However, it's worth remembering that if you are needing it more often than usual it could indicate a worsening of your condition so you should maybe see your respiratory nurse or doctor.
My doctor told me that if this felt i needed to my nebulizer with medication then I should be at the doctors. I do use it with water which helps a but
