Thank you

I am going back to see Dr at 15.05 today. With the numerous advise given I have formulated a list of questions and actions I need before the 5th March. I have spoken as suggested to the BLF nurse who has also given me some advise as to what to ask today.

Again thank you so so much. Will report back outcome

Hi it would have gone horrendous if not for the people on her the asthma UK nurse and the BLS Nurse I spoke to...my Dr initially quite dismissive say he had already given me the results.

I actually went on to inform him that I had come for a rescue pack as never had one before but now copd diagnosis I need one..on fostair but on advise of nurse also asked spirits...he said only s consultant could prescribed that but gave me spirits respimat instead...refused referral to pulmonary for lung excercise...said consultant can do that all in all yes pleased with outcome

Good Luck Hun xxxx

Update my appointment would have not gone well if not for you all asthma UK nurse and BLS nurse...my Dr initially quite dismissive say he had already given me the results.

I was able to ask for rescue pack.spiriva and got it ...community respirtorty nurse called back..she was able to access my results she said moderate copd...told her my GP said moderate severe she said no...

I am now happy to see consultant on the 25th Febuary so he can go through everything with me.

I cannot thank everyone enough still anxious but not as anxious as yesterday

I will follow all advise given thank you all again

Crying this time tears of gratitude

So pleased you are feeling much more positive now. Brilliant job telling your GP what you needed to have. He now knows you are someone who will fight her corner and can speak up for herself - an excellent start to your future relationship with him!

It's natural to be anxious about any new condition, but don't let the anxiety overwhelm you. Any future worries, run them by us again, someone is always around.

I changed to Fostair and Spiriva respimat from Seretide 500 two years ago, and have been much better on them. Hope your new meds work well for you too.

So pleased you’ve moved so far forward over the day. Well done, you! So it’s moderate copd, not so much to worry about for you!

And we’re all still here if we can help.

I hope you get some sleep tonight 😴

Going to be honest still worried but needed to be productive and that was down to everyone here....was breathless when out came back and had a good old cry. Still not sure about what condition means to me...but know a bit better than yesterday.

Changing drs after consultant appointment as not at all supportive.

When you say moderate not a lot to worry about....as I don't know implications of that. I will be on here daily

You’ll be very welcome! Moderate I think will mean just looking after your health, all meds taken as prescribed, responding quickly to signs of lung flare ups. That’s what the consultant told my husband, and he’s moderate too.

Your thoughts about changing your GP may be a good move....we’ve got to feel confident there’s help there when really needed. I’m still getting to know our new surgery, after moving house last year. It’s not comfortable, not knowing who to turn to. I wasn’t happy with the first one I tried, so I’m doing the rounds at the moment.

Thanks for updating us all on your day 🌸

Thank you for supporting me through out the day. Can I ask does your husband still work.hope you don't mind me asking. Just still concerned about work...but I have been working right up to diagnosis. See still not fully got my act together. Hope I will sleep tonight as got work in the morning provided not snowed in.

Have ordered a lung trainer on line. 3 balls in a tube my friend suggested it

He doesn’t work now but worked till he was 71, with very few absences. He gets a bit breathless from time to time bit after exhertion but he manages it, by pausing for a while. Moderate regular exercise helps him. While he was working he was being treated for asthma but that turned out to be a mis-diagnosis.

We’ve just moved from a bungalow into a house on three floors!! The extra exercise has moved him forward. Our daughter is a physio and she was keen for him to get more exercise over the day.

He goes straight to the GP for antibiotics if he has an infection, and things soon settle. He used to wait and see if it cleared without antibiotics but it lasted too long that way. Consultant said that was the wrong approach. He generally gets one in the autumn for some reason. He gets tired sometimes but generally leads a very normal life. He’s been told his copd is moderate, with a patch of bronchiectasis identified after a CT scan.

Hope that helps a bit 🌷

Yes that has helped as for me it's still being able to work that's important to me.. Thank you for sharing. I am holding on to the fact this is not a death sentence...I have so much to learn and understand
