That shrinking feeling.

I found as I got older,

My height began to drop.

I'm shrinking very slowly.

When is it going to stop?

Maybe when I get too short

And can no longer roam.

I'll get a situation,

As a garden gnome.

I'm not too keen on fishing,

So I don't fancy that.

Perhaps I'll just be Happy,

And wear a funny hat.

I haven’t started shrinking yet but I stopped growing upward when I was about 12. Now I’m growing outward ⛄️

I have shrunk from 5ft 2" to 4ft 11", still loosing, however, I now say that the reason I have a big tummy, is not too much chocolate, but as my spine has shrunk, there is less room under the ribs, so I am bound to have a big tummy!! Love your rhymes.

It happens to us all. I give the medics my height I was when much younger because it places me just within the BMI “normal” range. If I own up to the drop in height I’m overweight. Hmmm....

Kate xx

in reply toKatinka46

I'm not overweight, I'm just undertall ! 😊

Whitechinchilla profile image
Whitechinchilla in reply toKatinka46

I had the exact same problem. Told by a hospital nurse that I was overweight so though I weigh less than I did 20 yers ago my shrinkage put me in the obese category! Doubt I will ever recover from that!!!

SORRELHIPPO profile image
SORRELHIPPO in reply toWhitechinchilla

Have a friend 5ft 5" size 8 (I hate her) If she goes into hospital they imply she is anorexic, her practice nurse told her she was obese, something to do with not having a cleavage, just straight up, seemingly your waist has to be smaller than something for you to be OK!!!!!!

Whitechinchilla profile image
Whitechinchilla in reply toSORRELHIPPO

I’m not going to fight the things I can’t change.

I never had a waist so there seems little point at my time of life in worrying about it now.

It’s whats inside that counts eh?

What a nice way to start my Sunday , with a good poem from our Don, and I think Mr Happy suits you, what an imagination you have. And as Pantani says it is compulsory to read your poems. Xx

very good 😊 Don why don't you put all your poems in a book could be a nice wee earner.

My sole aim is to try and cheer up people who are suffering from lung associated problems, Robert. I never lock my posts so anybody can read them.

Haha! I'm shrinking too, Don. My granddaughter thinks it's hilarious that I now ask her to get things out of high cupboards for me. She doesn't seem to realise that she's getting taller - thinks I'm getting smaller! Well I am a bit but not as much as she thinks. I don't think I fancy sitting on a toadstool every day. I'll have to think of something else to be other than a gnome. xx Moy

Haven't posted so until now, but I so enjoy your poems,.. When I heard at a early age of persons shrinking, I said that would be adding insult to injury in my case, as my tallest height was 5ft 1.5 in.. It happened, lost the 1.5 in.. Have lost no more, thanks to discovering a Vit D3 deficit and correcting that... "A good laugh is the best medicine!" Thanks!

robert1957 profile image
robert1957 in reply tojmsutt73

hello jmsutt73 how did you find out about vitamin D3

jmsutt73 profile image
jmsutt73 in reply torobert1957

Doctor suggested testing Vitamin D levels. Had been experiencing shoulder pain. I also had shrunk 1.5 inches over a couple of years. Have been taking 5000 in. Daily for a year and a half. No more pain, no more shrinkage. Where I live, sun is not dependable for half of year, and at my advanced age I don't sit in sun. J

thankyou for your replay I also take d3 k 2 and magnesium citrate at the moment I have no pain asthma calmed down ie no hospital stays so thankyou again

jmsutt73 profile image
jmsutt73 in reply torobert1957

Since I began taking those same supplements, D3, K2,and Magnesium Citrate, I have had only one head/chest congestion event. Along with a decent diet, I believe these plus B-Complex, and Potassium, and a good probiotic have helped keep the dreaded exacerbation at bay. I took ubiquinol 400 mg. daily for over a year, but had to stop due to the side effect of pain in upper right abdomen. The main benefit from the Ubiquinol that I experienced Was a huge improvement in vision. I had been hopeful that it would stop my oxygen drops. It didn't, but the benefits that I did see would have made the expense worth it if not for that side effect. Wishing you continued good health. J
