Hi, first time on here.. my question to you is, how long after recieving my award letter will I receive the first payment, and will it be backdated to when I made my claim on the 6th July 2018..?

Awards are backdated to the date of claim, payments are normally made at same time, may be a delay due to banking procedure. Or type of bank, building society can take longer to process.

Thanks for the info. I should have just checked my bank..it had been in there for 3 days. So basically for anyone else, my award letter was dated 21st November 2018, claim date was 6th July 2018 and was paid 24th November 2018. So all in all not too long.

Payment will be backdated to the date of claim. Sometimes payment is made into your account without you being notified so check your account. If it isn’t in your account within 2 weeks of the date of the decision, phone the DWP as occasionally things go wrong in their administrative system.
