Hi

Once you lungs have rid themselves of all the gunk, you may experience a slight improvement. If you take up a exercise regime, and ask for a referral to pulmonary rehabilitation, one hour exercise one hour education you will feel the benefits, and learn how to managed your condition, with in your abilities, which will be reduced.

A lot of posters have reported improvements with treatment, but the main advantage of stopping smoking is that the lungs' natural deterioration speed is slowed to the level of someone who has never smoked; this effect apparently happens very quickly.

Hi, giving up smoking helps but unfortunately the damage has already been done. You will notice a slight improvement on breathing but do not expect too much. Whatever you do do not go back to the cigs. Get your GP to refer you to a pulmonary course, usually about 6 weeks twice a week. They will initially assess you find out what you can do then check on you throughout the exercise session. It's all good fun you'll meet people with better & worse conditions but they will teach you how to breath & give you exercises to carry on at home, it's all worth it so go for it. There are treatments for your condition out theren but you will need to research these. Do not take a lot of info from Dr Google as they usually only frighten you witless & take only the worst scenarios.

Do the research, take the exercise, and take it from there. Do not get dishearted there are things that can help you.

Yes how Wright you are dr google can send you in all directions and you just don’t know what to do duff

Well done Duff, yes you should notice some improvement especially if you can manage to do daily exercise, walk out however small. and the other advantage of not smoking is you can help prevent your lungs getting further damage which would happen if you continue to smoke.

Have you done a PR course yet, if not that would be a good thing too :)
