When I first get out of bed in the morning I am very short of breath.
I had been a smoker for many years.
The only medication I take first thing in the morning is Asmol which helps a bit until I get going.
I would appreciate any suggestions to help with getting my breath first thing in the morning.

Hi Tony and welcome
Now might be a good time to discuss things further with your doctor. Perhaps you are needing a longer lasting brochodilater inhaler med.
Asmol I believe is salbutamol or ventolin equivalent, a reliever inhaler medicine giving bronchodilation for up to 6 hours. You can take this as prescribed 3-4 times daily, (read the information leaflet that comes with the inhaler.
Hope you find things improving for you with perhaps a new inhaler medicine.
Hi and welcome. As Bkin said you may benefit from a medication review. I have this problem inspite of being on more meds than you and find that the only way I can deal with it is to take my inhalers first thing, take a bathroom break, slowly make a coffee and then sit until my breathing eases.
It may help to sleep higher up with more pillows if you tend to sleep in a fairly flat position.
I hope that you find something that eases your problem.
Hi, I tried what you suggested and after getting out of bed in the morning instead of having a shower straight away I now have breakfast first followed by Asmol inhaler, this method certainly works and makes breathing first thing in the morning much easier.
