I have recently been diagnosed with both of the above and was wondering if anyone else has these and how it has changed your way of life.

Bronchietasis & pseudomonas
I’ve had both since I was born... I’m 27 now. With management my life has been ‘normal’ x
I was slower with physical activities in school but I never missed out . I was off school a lot
Every year I have 2-3 hospital stays for I.V antibiotics and that helps keep things calm.
I have down/slow days when I feel unwell .
Other than that everything is normal x For me everything has been doable (travelling, etc) with adjustments made to make it a little easier for me.

Hi Tufty, I have had bronchiectasis all of my life, diagnosed at three, now 68. I have been colonised with pseudomonas since 1986.Through managing my condition I have led a very full life and continue to do so. You are the same person today as you were the day before your diagnosis. I am busily unpacking a mattress and manhandling it on to my bed right now so no time to go into details of how you can help yourself. Please feel free to ask any questions. There are quite a few other knowlegable bronchs on here with and without the pleasure of pseudomonas for a cpmpanion, whom, I am sure will be along to talk to you.
Hi, thank you for your reply, it’s lovely to hear that you are leading a busy and full life. It’s nice to hear from others as it was a lot for me to take in at first.
Hi Tufty, I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis and pseudomonas two years ago at age 68. You do have a learning curve to get your head around the 'new' you. I would suggest that you ask your doctor for a referral to respiratory rehab, so that you can learn the proper techniques of sputum clearance. Keeping your lungs clear helps prevent exacerbations.
My life has not changed too much. I'm lucky to be retired, so I have time for my twice daily lung clearance routines. I have had 3 exascerbations each year, which the antibiotic Levaquin puts in check. My lung function tests are good, so I exercise and go about my life as normal.
This is a wonderful site. I've learned so much by reading the posts, and bringing info that I've learned here back to my doctor. I'm sure that you will find much help here too.
Hi Kpacific
ThanK you for your message it really helps to hear other people's experiences. I had Hodgkin disease years ago which damaged my lungs, 25 years later and the damage is showing with bronchietasis and pseudomonas. I haven't been given much info on it yet so that's why I've joined this so that I can learn from all of you. I've got my first appointment at respiratory clinic for techniques on bringing up sputum next month.
