Has anybody with bronchiectasis like me found after submitting a sputum sample there were traces of pseudomonas bacteria present.
Only after seeing the consultant recently he briefly mentioned it.

I think a few members on here have had that problem Jonn54. I understand that it is normally treated with antibiotics. Were you given medication? You can find some information here:
I’ve been diagnosed with that too Jonn54, so will be interested in how your consultant will treat it
Hi John 54, I have got bronchiectasis with colonised pseudomonas, I have lived with this for at least 15 years. So far my consultant at UCLH is content to monitor me with lung function tests every year and for me to use a flutter acapella device to clear mucous daily. If the pseudomonas gets the better of me i will be precpscribed Ciprofloxacin gram negative antibiotic, i have actively resisted taking this as it can havenasty side effects involving the tendons. Keep active , keep getting rid of the mucous and keep positive .
I have had bronchiectasis from being a child. I have had psuedomonas a few times the most recent when we were in Aus over Christmas. I was treated very well with intravenous Anti biotics and steroids and then left the hospital after three nights with oral medication. I recovered really quickly but the care I received was probably better than I would have here. They said it was caused by a virus from the plane nothing to do with the humidity.
I have pseudomonas and have had it for about 25 years that I know of. I am allergic to ciprofloxacin unfortunately so there is not much that I can take. IV treatment is a possibility but I found this so painful last time I am reluctant to subject my thread like veins to it!
