Testing for Oldness.

Your age is just a number.

Check what you can do.

If you've had lots of birthdays,

Don't let that worry you.

Choose instead a function,

That you need to do each day.

You're old when you can't do that,

And must find another way.

I have picked a function

To use as my checkup.

If I still can put my pants on,

Whilst I am standing up.

Very good Don, hope you can still get your trousers on. Xxxx

I've changed 'trousers' to 'pants' to include the ladies. I don't want to be accused of being sexist. ;-)

Well done, not that anyone would accuse you of anything. Xxxx 😘😀

Both my husband and I have to resort to the ‘oldies’ methods like put your pants on sitting on the edge of the bed ,wear elastic waists so no fiddly buttons and zips and shoes and sandals with Velcro instead of smart buckles or laces . I’m afraid comfort and ease are more important than fashion 😊

Being old is not much Fun

With skin that wrinkles in the sun

And putting on pants is really hell

I don't do that now very well

But best of all is eating toast

With teeth that are more brittle than most

So getting old Don isn't good

And soon we'll all be encased in wood

Happy days..........Ski's and Scruff's x

Being old can be great fun

If healthy you can stay.

What f***s it up is all the stuff

You've picked up on the way!

I must admit to struggling some with that particular task Don. 😔 As always, thank you for your lovely poem. It made me smile. Have a lovely day. xx 😊

Brilliant. Can't think of many things that I can do with ease any more. Hmm....

I must be old then Don, I have to sit down before putting my trousers on, or I'll fall over. :-o

Is it OK to wobble a bit, but still remain standing up, or have I achieved the grand old state of Over the Hill at 59?? Just love your rhyming.

in reply toWheezyAnne

Wobbling is OK, I've been wobbling for years, mainly after a previous night out. ;-)

I quite enjoy the predictive hearing, the predictive seeing and the predictive reading. So much more interesting than what is actually there.

Well Don you must be quite fit because I don’t anymore. I’d better choose another function, you have worried mr now 😃I can still do my crossword puzzles!!

in reply to

I think it’s probably my replacement knee joints that enable me to do that. Although they are now 18 years old they still serve me well. 😉

in reply to

You are kind..😊 glad you are well served!

For me it is just that I lack balance and confidence since I have that vertebrae fracture Im not taking any risk.

It’s funny you chose that function because Dad used to do it until he was 88 and I used to say Dad please sit down as he could get one leg in and used to shout for me for the other leg, especially in his slippery socks..but he had that willpower, and kept up that daily challenge..
