My dr. Says he is amazed that I can function as well as I do with 30% lung function. Now I'm thinking that maybe I can't blow into the machine with harder force because of this condition of GERD. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thanks, barbara

I'm just wondering if it's possible to get a lower fvc reading because of acid reflux disease.

I have no idea but as I mention in my post above, it seems that GERD causes or worsens lots of breathing problems.

Take some bicarbonate of soda or baking soda in water will tone down the reflux
Thank you oxytic. Yes I have been on ll kinds of meds for over 15 yrs. for reflux. Thanks to proton pumps like Prilosec, I now have pretty severe osteoporosis. You just can't win!!! One has to pick thier poison. It's a terrible option....but, it is what it is!
My doctor thinks that too. I have 29% lung function. I work full time and 2 weeks ago I climbed my first (and bloody last) mountain! I swim 3 times a week, a km each time and walk the dog. I think your body gets used to what it can and can't do and adapts. For me exercising/walking is difficult for first 10 minutes and then it gets easier. I am sorry I don't have any issues with reflux though.

Marie, that is so inspiring and encouraging and thank you so much for sharing this with us. I'm having lung function tests on Friday and am dreading the result and anticipating a big drop since the last result, 14 months ago.
Good morning I to have gerd which I've been taking omeprazole 20 mg for about 3 years now I've been having a problem where I can't swallow just lately had yet another camera down having a look now on 80 mg a day now they just manage it I have asthma emphysema and a hiatus hernia best thing I can say is dont worry about it when I did RH they say its about core strength it's about keeping muscles working around your lungs it does work but gerd does play game with your breathing
Thanks for that Stephen ! It will be interesting to see if the higher dose of Omeprazole will help your breathing as well as your reflux.
