Simple wall fan

Hello

I want to provide filtered fresh air from outside into a small bedroom

Can I do this with a simple speed controlled fan that will input air through a 100mm duct and a filter box that would filter out pollen

I would envisage this being run at a low speed throughout the night

Thank You

Hi

Success would depend on type and size of filters, bearing in mind that you will be continuously drawing in polluted air the filters will not last long.

Would you not be better using a air purifier which will continuously remove any pollution from the room air.

Or are you making reference to a room with no windows, not ideally suited to use as a bedroom, no means of escape in event of emergency.

The air purifier suggestion from Stone came to my mind too. I wouldn’t be without mine. 🌿

The air purifier is essential for me.

Breathezee if you don’t mind me asking, which purifier do you have? We are currently trying to buy one and it’s taking forever to decide. Thank you

I first bought a Vax 2 about two years ago. It was a great help, from nothing, and I ran it for two hours each night in the bedroom, or after changing the bed clothes etc. Also in kitchen if necessary. Little bit noisy and never switched itself off, but did the trick.

Then last winter I put my Winter fuel allowance towards a Dyson Pure. This is my favourite by far, though expensive. It has an auto option, whereby it switches itself on as it detects that the air is not clean....you can set it to a level for those of us with lung problems. Then switches itself off eventually when job done. It also has a night setting, whereby the sound, already very tolerable, drops to very low, plus a timer to switch it off after as long as you like..

I keep the Dyson running much longer, in both bedroom and living room, wherever I am, sometimes overnight. My breathing is much better now and much more often very good.

One example of the Dyson’s usefulness recently was when I indulged in a rug for the bedroom floor (I try to maintain laminate floor throughout the house....easier to keep dust free) the Dyson immediately switched itself to a high level. I vacuumed the rug thoroughly, but no change for the Dyson. Thought, it’s new, things will settle, but it didn’t and after about three days, my breathing got worse too. Out went the rug, Dyson gradually back to low setting, and with some help, my breathing back to normal, where it has stayed, so far.

So wouldn’t be without my Dyson....worth every expensive penny. My Vax by comparison is noisy and it has fallen into disuse now. My Winter Fuel Allownce is being saved for another, to save carrying it around....then I’ll have one upstairs and one down. Sorry for the long reply, but hope it helps. Penny

Thank you Penny, we were looking at the Vax models so that’s very helpful x
