heavy lungs

So I passed an exercise stress test yesterday with flying colors, but had a rough night's rest. Today is the 1st time I have felt my lungs feel heavier than normal. Not sure if it's shortness of breathe. Could use some advice on what shortness of breathe feels like.

What do you mean by heavy lungs rigcu1..just wondering

well its kinda muggy today, so it feels like trying to breathe in a muggy environment etc. Lungs don't feel as wide open as they normally do etc. Was wondering if its dyspnea.

Aww right sorry..I'm the same at the moment I've bronchiectasis asthma and asbestos and youth can't seem to be able to get a decent lungfull even though I'm on loads of steroids to open up airways and I'm forever falling asleep

man hope that can change for you! I'm 38 yrs old right now stressing out over this. I have 4 great kids I still need to raise. So I am fighting off anything lung negative the best I can. 2 cardios, one emergency unit, one urgent care unit, and 2 doctors all say I am good and not to worry about lung disease. So I am trying to stick with that, but I have chest pains and sleepless nights. Really scary for me.

Hi,

I don't know Wether you have tried lung exercises, I was advised to sit in a chair with a straight back, put a pillow on my lap, turn your palms facing upwards with your elbows resting on the pillow (arms should be totally relaxed not tense), then you take a deep breath in slowly through your nose (with mouth closed) then purse your lips and Exhale slowly to the count of 5 repeat between 10 to 20 times, has helped me enormously.

I was taught it by the pulmonary team.

If you are falling asleep a lot speak to your doctor, no good worrying unnecessarily

I'm pretty tired today and I have anxiety about the way I am feeling. 7 doctors said I am good and it's anxiety not lung issue. So trying to hold on to that hope.

Hi rlgcu1, Pete says that shortness of breath makes him feel like someone is holding a flannel over his face, no air to breathe in. The recent hot weather wasn’t good for him but it’s cooler now.

Try not to panic and do the pursed lips breathing. Stay as calm as you can.

Hope things improve for you. Xxxx

Hi,

I think I would try to have faith in your doctors, they all agree it is anxiety and this would cause your breathlessness feelings. I think you are stressed because you have four children to bring up and dread being ill because of that, it is a terrible thing anxiety. Perhaps your GP could prescribe some medication to help alleviate the symptoms and also relaxation or meditation exercises can be very helpful.

Hope you start to feel better soon.

thank you

woke up today 4 pounds lighter than yesterday. Most the time I would celebrate that, but not when its a symptom of a lung disease. SMH

Hi there you said it was a 'muggy' day. Perhaps it was high humidity when there is more moisture in the air and less oxygen. I find it more difficult to breathe with high humidity. x
