Do you mean the powder inhaler? I have Spiriva Respimat but Spiriva also comes as a powder inhaler which has a disc you put in the inhaler.

Someone the other day here explained that Spiriva helps to reduce the mucus. Until I read this explanation I had no idea why I have Spiriva!

Have you had the results of your spirometry, and if so have you been given Spiriva? Maybe the doctor thinks it will help to limit any deterioration, like a preemptive treatment. Wishing you all the best.

Dont know what it does but when I started it I was well for two years after! That may have been the result of a lung wash however! I've been on it 10 years with no I'll effects.

Spiriva is a long term (24hr) bronchodilator - relaxes the smooth muscle surrounding the airways allowing them to open wider. Google is a friend (in this case..)

Hi....the only tablet I have taken is Lipitor 10mg for 15 years for cholesterol issues. Sorry I have no knowledge of the second med you mentioned. No side effects from Lipitor (I am in France where it's called Tahor but the same thing). My OH can't even take 10 mg Lipitor as it gives him a chronic cough. Sorry I'm not much help. Hope you can get it sorted.
