Desperate breathing problems.

I have copd also connective tissue disease, the last 3 months I've been given so many antibiotics as I have an infection and it doesn't seem to be clearing up. The last antibiotics was 4 weeks ago and I haven't gone back to tell the Dr that they havent worked either. I m ok doing absolutely nothing but as soon as I do something, even making a cup of tea, I'm so breathless, or going to the bathroom ar getting dressed, I end up so breathless I'm gasping for air. I do have oxygen in the house, but I shoulnt be needing to use it after each little thing I atempt to do. Can anyone out there tell me what's happening to me, and has anyone out there experienced this. My life is totaly miserable.

Why on earth haven't you gone back to gp to say antibiotics haven't worked? I know you have had several courses but you still might need more.

Last year I had to take 5 courses of antibiotics and 4 of steroids to get rid of an infection. They can be difficult to shift! It then took several months to "get over" infection because I was badly deconditioned by being so unwell for 4 months.

Please go back to gp and seek medical intervention.

Pete gets very breathless and cannot do very much but doesn't have oxygen. Go back to your GP and tell him how things are so further investigation can be carried out. Xxxx

Yes I get so breathless it is horrid not to be able to do menial things , I get anxiety too which doesn't help I have severe copd and that is hard enough to cope with let alone another problem alongside it .I hope they have sent you for a xray due to having this infection so long I would ask about rehab it may help xx

I empathise with what you are going through I was told my infection was gone but I ended up in hospital on IV abs because I had become immune to the usual I agree you should be sent for a Xray I can't do anything without oxygen either take care of yourself x

Hello Suzannejames . I know what you mean. Recently, I have been using oxygen more in the house and will definitely update my doctor next week. Perhaps it would be best to see your doctor again and let him know that things aren't great. Being careful is important. Infections can become very dangerous. Thinking of you.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Also having COPD I was plagued with chest infections too but I also take and make Golden paste made from turmeric to help with arthritis and have noted that I haven't had an infection this winter as a pleasant side effect to taking the turmeric. Check out turmeric users group on Facebook maybe be a solution to for you as well! GooD luck!

Thank you for valuable suggestions. No I don't smoke and haven't smoked for 6 years. I will check out that turmeric that was suggested as I have connective tissue disease, therefore the R/A might benefit as well. I find I can cope with the pain of that easier th an the copd. It's tnerrible being unable to breath. I try not to rely on my oxygen too much, but, I will use it when things et really bad. But I forgot to mention that I am on indefinite daily dose of antibiotics, which probably helps, but I have been feeling better the last 3 days. So fingers crossed. Than you everyone for your valuable and heartfelt concern. Suzanne.xxxx
