I don't really understand why when it is really hot, that my copd. Is much more worse. Also not being an easily panicked person. I need my peak flow metre to tell me I am at 10 on the scale as opposed btobetween 250 and 400.,
A quick burst or two salbutamol and then some Foster I am alright for a bit. But sometimes this can go on and on a bit. But it does work in the end.
Well being born and bred in the UK with all its up and down weather I'm now in Rhodes Greece our winter was short this year and temperature rose quicker than normal but having c.o.p.d since 2003 I find the dry heat actually isn't bad and I struggled less than when I was in the damp cold weather back in the UK , I think heat effects different people in different ways . Keep safe
That's sounds great 😊👍 I also believe that the weather is lots better for me too. Everytime we went to Turkey or Greece I struggled less.
We hope we can still make things possible when covid19 is under control to travel freely again, so that might be a property buy is possible. You take care 😃 Best wishes 🌺🌺🌺🌺
Well turkey as a high covid rate at present and their very slack on how they deal with it , it's strange though how heat out here is different to heat in the UK 😂😂😂 the good thing here in Rhodes is the good weather is around ten to eleven months of the year and when it rains ok it hammers it down but seems to be at night 🤣🤣 . Take care and keep safe and hope you get your holiday 👍👍👍
Yes I believe it's still not safe enough to travel. I speak maybe of another two years before you can travel freely again, with no worries. LOL 😃 you too take care
You are making me very envious. Rhodes has only been a stopping place for me while waiting for local ferry to whichever island I was heading to that year . The answer is mainly pollution here and very little there.
Well yes you have a point there's no big trucks buzzing around , and being in a village which actually doesn't get many tourists all the taxis tend to either go round the other side of the island or straight into Rhodes town or ixia or trianda , kremasti where I am is pretty tourist free . Still got good restaurants and bars and the people in the village are helpful and very nice people . The property my stepfather rents is a pretty big two bed bungalow style and it's only 280 euros a month which if you were in the UK would probably be double that 😂😂 .

In a dream. I wish to live there. But not possible right now.

Don't get me wrong yes it's beautiful with fantastic weather and food and cheaper to live here than the UK but there's a big but , medical wise mmm no NHS basic treatment for ex pat's unless you take out Greek health insurance , and medication as to be paid for . 😂👍👍👍
Rhodes was the main airport for all tne Dodecanese islands and have flown a few times pre 2000 when it was a trip to different island every summer .o I have always found the Greek people really lovely , and helpful -except the man who was contracted to take us to Nissiros that evening in his tour boat- and didn't, We stayed overnight and went next day with all the tourists on a trip going to see the volcano. Saved him money but he did not get the contract with the company the next year. Have you done that trip ?. It was very exciting but I know more about volcanos now and would think twice about going down into the crater. Look what happened in New Zealand a few years ago.Do you speak greek .? I learnt the basics at night school enough to understand direct tions when I was wandering around, but soon goes if you Idont use it . You have the advantage of being there all the time.
Not ventured off the island but you can spend days wandering around the battlements that surrounds Rhodes town , yes like you I speak enough Greek to get me by but for the serious stuff I have a friend who was born on the island lived in Australia then moved back here he does all my interpretation for me he attends all my appointments with different specialists like neurologist pulmonologist and the imaging company who do all my CT and MRI scans . The thing I love most is things taste like they should , you buy tomato in UK their tasteless here they taste like they did when I was a kid . The people are fantastic so welcoming and helpful .
Don't get me wrong I miss the UK but for completely different reasons .
Sorry that the heat is no good for you.I actually have no problems at all. I prefer the heat, with my asthma and COPD and when it dry I struggle less. So I enjoy this time of the year.
Stay safe and hopefully you will get better again. Best wishes 🌺🌺🌺🌺
The cooler air has come.!! But still need to watch the humidity. I'd rather cough a bit . Than be totally unable to.. I feel for you know if you don't like cooler air . 🙂
When it is very hot it can also be very humid as hot air holds more moisture. This can make it harder to breath. The humidity is 60% where I live today which isn't too bad but the temperature is 25 degrees and I am struggling. Hot air can irritate inflamed airways as may be the case with COPD sufferers causing the smooth muscle that lines the airways to contract thereby narrowing them and making breathing harder. Sometimes it can be poor air quality too although according to the defra information site this isn't too bad presently.
The BLF have an information page on looking after your lungs in hot weather that you may find useful.
Thanks, so much. I have suspected for a long time that humidity is the real problem. I don't tolerate heat very well. Kind of get hotter and hotter internally.I am going to look at that BLF stuff now.
I have fans everywhere which help a bit but sometimes just waft the hot air about. Hope you find something that helps you. Although this spell of hot weather is expected to break at the weekend with rain and temperatures dropping I don't know if that will mean that humidity will still be high.
My asthma and lungs do not like hot and humid weather. Never have in all my 55 years. Don't know why. Treat like you have to keep yourself as open as possible.
The heat here in Belfast is awful night & day atm , we are having near record temperatures . i'm finding breathing very difficult ,it's like trying to wear those face masks very very claustrophobic .
The thing I use is one of those cool packs on the back of my neck Alternatively ice cubes.
The pure sudden moment can help with the feelings that happen in the heat. Face masks are the most antisocial things I have experienced. . If no one looking I give my nose a quick. moment. I am a person that sort of reads people by their facial expressions. Body language gives away , if they are saying the right thing and don't mean it.
Roll on the rain. I am hoping to stand in it and stick my tongue , out. : )
