Stopped smoking 8 months ago. Gave up because I wanted to and because I was diagnosed with vulvar cancer. Got the all clear and am ok now. I have never been as miserable since I stopped smoking and the last few times I’ve been at my friends I’ve had a go with her vape. And I really enjoyed it. I know that vaping is loads better than smoking. I really don’t know what to do. As in do I carry on going and hope one day I don’t feel as miserable or do I just get a vape ?!?!
Advice needed please

Having taken the major step with success, I would decline from vaping on the bases to little is known about the long term effects of vaping or the types of products used.
Fine as a means of smoking cessation.
Try to stay away from vaping if you can - having one now and then will make it harder and trigger your longings to vape/smoke even more. I know it's hard - I found the first year the hardest especially if I was around others smoking or vaping. Subconsciously what you are doing by posting the question re vaping is asking for approval so that you can allow yourself to vape 'guilt free'. Vaping is way less harmful than smoking but still not harm free, especially in someone with damaged lungs. It might be better to ask friends and those who love you not to vape/smoke around you - explain that it is making things hard for you and how important it is for your lung health. If you do cave in and vape, try not to feel guilty about it . We all have the right to decide how we want to approach our disease - and vaping & smoking are still legal. All the best to you whichever choice you make
You are asking this question on British LUNG Foundation Forum, I really don't think you will find anyone to say it is OK to regularly suck unknown chemicals into your lungs unless they are a medication. So...Don't Vape...and don't smoke. Stay quit and enjoy being able to breathe instead of wheeze!
I used vaping as a means to stop smoking. Whilst I agree to some degree with the comments of others I cannot totally endorse what they are saying. Smoking was to me a means of handling stress. Obviously you are feeling miserable and that is the time when people reach for the smokes. I have cut the vaping down to almost nothing but recently have been under a great amount stress and had the thought I need a smoke! Stupid I know but vaping helped me not start again. Yes there are issues with vaping but it by far better than smoking again.
Oh, It's so true, I can understand you. I stopped smoking only 4 months, very short time you know( Now I prefer to use electronic cigarettes. Maybe it's not the best way how to say "Goodbye" to smoke for good, but I feel myself really better! Do you know where can I buy electronic cigarettes online? 2 months I bought it here mygadget.us/ but I'll be thankful for any bits of advice=)
kathy stay off both, you will feal better but it takes a time, put money you saved by not smokeing in a jar, and at christmas see how much youv saved, i did it stopped smokeing after 45 years of heavy smokeing and with my saveing i bought a new computer all ways have a goal,
best of luck brian
I would say no. stay away from vaping. You have succeeded in stoping smoking already, don't start to smoke anything again as it will just trigger the habit meganism again.
For safety reasons, vaping was never intended to be an ongoing habit, it was only intended to help people get over the nicotine addiction, not intended for long term use.
Any chemical added to the body is a potential cancer causing agent. Think about that.
I wouldn't stay in a room with any smoker, vaping or other. Passive smoking is just as harmful.
Instead buy yourself a new top, get a pamper treatment, buy some new shoes with money you will save each and every month.
Thank you all. I won’t be vaping ! Continue as I am and get the first year out of the way and then hopefully I’ll be more over it !! And I need to stop having some of my friends when I see her as it’s just waking up the demon !!
Identify the times you get the temptation to vape or smoke, and then change what you're doing at those sorts of times. I used to have a coffee and cig after a meal, but when I gave up smoking I changed to tea but did the washing up first. I also replaced the hand to mouth aspect of smoking with eating sunflower seeds singly.
Just an update to let you know that I didn’t end up vaping !! And so glad I didn’t. I also stopped using my friends when in her company. I stopped smoking a year ago on the 5th November and now that’s it’s been a year I can definitely tell you that it’s a whole lot easier !! No cravings now, sometimes i still feel enviable when I see a
Smoker but then that turns to pity as I know what they are doing to their body !!
Thank you all for being there !
I wish you all a lovely Christmas and a very happy healthy new year !!
