Difficulty getting to sleep because of wheezing, awaking to gasps and coughing, unable to walk round the supermarket without frequent stops, declining social invitations through fear of having an embarrassing attack, you know the thing...
I have tried gulping down cough-syrup, and even bought a diffuser with some eucalyptus essential oil to see if it would shift the glue-like mucus that sat stubbornly in my lungs. Along with Braitus inhaler every morning, and (too) frequent use of Ventolin, I only just managed not to suffocate it seemed.
But then I bought lavender oil to use in my diffuser. After a few days I definitely felt better. I stopped wheezing, and at last was able to get a couple of hours' sleep. I might be speaking too soon, but I was wondering if lavender oil has helped anyone else and does it have recognized benefits? Has there been a change in the humidity/pollen recently that would account for the improvement? Or are flare-ups (and downs) just random events? Is anyone able to sort of 'predict' theirs?
lavender is supposed to have a relaxing effect, I wonder if that has helped you with your sleep. I tried eucalyptus in a diffuser once but it didn't help.
Just a warning though about essential oils......they can have a negative effect on some peoples breathing.
Exercise , even gardening or housework, helps me dislodge old mucus in my lungs....trouble is when I am short of breath it's difficult to do that. It's a vicious circle sometimes.
Hi, I had the same sleepness problem but now take CBD+ oil from Holland & Barrat it's main ingredient is Cannabis oil. 3No drops, under the tongue each night seems to work wonders. The mucus problem, have you tried Carbocisteine tabs, if you have try to get hold of a little widget from Clement-Clarke.com. You "huff" into it and up comes the mucus wonderful things yet so simple & small.
I bought a nebulizer but only used salt + water so far. Even that helps...a bit, so need to ask Dr. about solution. I've been looking at flutter device on internet too. Thanks.
Aerobica is a hand held machine that's awesome getting up mucous. Nrbulizing 7 percent saline to get rid of mucous, especially is u have a lot is what is recommended at Mayo
I think you have to be tested by a nurse or physiotherapist to see if you can tolerate 7% isotonic saline solution (doctor has to prescribe) in a nebuliser. It certainly helps me as I use it every night; before I use it I don't feel I have any phlegm, but I always cough up quite a lot.
Please have a look at Active Cycle of Breathing Technique videos on YouTube as that definitely helps me. Takes about 15 minutes but worth it as if I don't cough up the mucus/phlegm I can't lie down
i was a bit scepicaol, but first triedthe spray, then the drops for sleep on the pilli tow ,i think it does work.seems to havea tranquilliser effect.
