Hi, has anyone used any herbal remedies to ease the suffering of COPD, sometimes old wives tales of remedies are worth looking into.

Herbal cure to heal COPD.
No, but I would be interested to hear if anyone has. I think someone on this site has tried Chinese herbal medicine. It might be interesting to look through books like Culpepper's Herbal and Gerrard's Herbal - but research any treatments before trying them as these books were written before the Enlightenment and the age of science.
Hia there is herb lungwort you make a tisane of it . Also every morning honey ginger fresh hot water . Add black pepper if you feel that damp lung stuff in cold weather eucalyptus oil on pillows. And hanky . Cook with lots turmeric chillies and fresh pineapple. Vit c &d b my doc gives me these . and good old cod liver oil . We didn't all die of consumption years ago . !
From looking at various sites some people report good affects from taking herbal remedies. My only concern is possible reactions with mainstream medications. My advice would be yes try them but do your research first. Secondly ask the advice of your pharmacist, my own is a font of knowledge when it comes to possible problems.
Try using Sage through a nebuliser. They do this in Germany in the lung hospitial's 3 x daily. Works better with fresh rather than dried.

There was a posting by a guy that said he had beaten Emphysema with herbal concoctions, tried them it didn't work, try to see if BLF have any record of such a claim. There are treatments out there, lung transplant, lung reduction, lung valves/coils and stem cell treatments. Some of these services are provided by NHS some are "private" and will cost. See what info you can get from BLF or try clinical connection.

I brew thyme and rosemary herbal tea, 3 cups a day for a maximum of 5 weeks. I talked to the doctor about it, he said it was good for soothing cough and sore throat. You can gargle with thyme tea as well.
I use Chinese herbs, which have made a huge impact on the amount of phlegm I produce. They're quite expensive but we're looking at going onto a maintenance dose only soon.
Do you Iris, that’s interesting. I used a Chinese cough syrup for years it was very thick and black, soothing and useful. Now I take so many meds I am worried about interactions.

I had so much phlegm before I started these herbs, and of course the phlegm made my breathing worse. I informed them of what meds I was taking and (to my knowledge) there haven't been any bad interactions at all. The difference in the amount of mucus/phlegm has been amazing xx
Great to know. Thank you 😊
Hi
There’s an interesting book, Natural Therapies for Emphysema and Copd, available from Amazon kindle edition £8.99 Written by Robert J. Green jr, ND
Yes, you need to drink this sparingly, one or two cups a day, as liquorice makes you lose potassium from your body.
Hi Jansy16,
Google Sophie Lamb she has a specific thyme syrup and will probably suggest Allicin Max (garlic). This isn't cheap but it works for me.Don't expect any serious change in your condition for a month or two.I haven't taken antibiotics for 9 months.Warning - we are all different and react differently to the same medication.BUT this definitely is not "snake oil" it worked for Hippocrates patients!!!
Keep well.
I have been taking black seed oil, it has anti inflammatory properties, so I'm told, and supposedly helps the lungs. I've only been taking it for a month so I can't say a lot yet, but my breathing is doing ok , touch wood!
I turned to herbs to clean out my lungs and improved my FEV1 greatly. Many herbs out there so do your research.
