You’ll have to go to the GP/Nurse/Respiratory unit/for your solutions so you can be prescribed what they feel is appropriate. You can only get physiological serum on OTC and that can irritate your respiratory system if not relevant.
Hi, the only thing I use in mine is either saline or sterile water. Both work well. Your GP may prescribe it for you or you can buy it on the internet.
Hello southp, I am using saline, meptin, and mucofillin for my neblizer which I was recommended from my doctor for my mucus and I do it 2-3 times a day. When I feel better I do less but when I was in hospital I did three times a day.
Before you nebulise anything I strongly advise that you get advice from your consultant, GP or respiratory disease. 0.9% saline is as good as anything when used twice per day with the proper breathing techniques to remove the gunk. 3,6 or7% hypertonic saline can be prescribed (usually for COPD patients ) but need to be tested under supervision first. Meptin and mucofillin are asthma drugs and will need to be prescribed. If you are just looking for help to loossen and get rid of mucus studies show that 0.9% saline combined with self physiotherapy is your best bet.

Meant respiratory nurse! Doh!
Go to gp first and always please
Lidl sell saline nebs and nebuliser on a periodic basis. The machines are fine but take about 5 - 10 minutes per dose. At £39. The saline nebs are so cheap I can't remember the price per box.

Hi & welcome to the forum, I have a nebuliser and have found that the best thing to help loosen mucus is Salbutamol but this you have to be prescribed by your GP.
It works far better than anything that you can ordinarily buy on online or across the counter like ,saline. Take this type of Salbutamol solution 4No times a day while at "rest".
