ο»Ώtoo hot to cook and my friend lefteri just brought me food
Wow that looks amazing Dave......enjoy !
I want half of that, I demand it, don't mess about, send it to me, hahaha
I'll split three ways ππ
I used to stay there many years ago
It shows πππ mind you I've been here six years I'm ok to a certain degree but I don't know much Greek still learning πππ
It's a difficult language to learn, especially with all the local dialects
Tell me about it ππππ
Hahahaha π€£π
The local people are so friendly when you live in a village they kinda watch over you π
Yes, they are very friendly π
In the UK you can live nextdoor to someone for years and maybe never talk here you walk down the street and everyone talks to you πππ
But with your knowledge of the language you don't know what they are on about. Lol Just nod yer head like a puppet. πππ
I know the basics good morning afternoon evening night I know what food stuffs are like milk sugar bread cheese . I'm not totally in secure with the language, and if I don't understand I say anglica they understand that I'm English.
Oh how true, a totally different way of life
Safer definitely
Yep, village life is definitely much more relaxed and friendly
You go to mainland like Athens it's just like the UK or any other city's around the world
I was only ever in Athens Port and the airport and as you say, a totally different way of life from the village
You can have pasticheo or musaka in all areas and each one is slightly different each island uses different herbs
Pastitsio and softito are my 2 favourite dishes. In fact, I just love Greek food
I love my lentil soup mmm but love seftia rabbit sausage. Healthy food but soon be Santa Maria in August so lots of street food.
The culture the people and especially the food are all you need . I have fresh bread straight out the oven every morning from just at the bottom of my road it's fantastic
I can smell it right now ππ
So many variations of bread aswell I love my baguette first thing in morning with a little garlic butter and fresh feta mm and I wouldn't touch feta before now love it a little olive oil lemon juice and black pepper
Oh yes. I still eat feta regularly. On Sunday I made tzatziki and had it with warm pitta, feta and olives, yummy
Love tzatziki I also love my pink sauce ππ so many nice things to eat . Real tomato not like the tasteless ones in the UK how they used to taste years ago
Can't beat the feta made in your village though completely fresh
I'm like a bear with a sore Butt until I have my frappe πΉπΉπΉ
I've had mine today too π
I have got into a routine of no drink except water until I have my frappe . Mind you I quite like the cappachino freddo aswell but the frappe oxi gala extra sweet πππ
Nothing can beat a smooth frappe. Right well I'm off to have a very non Greek homemade chicken curry π. Kalispera
Kalanikta and have a very enjoyable none Greek meal lovely chatting with you ,ππΌππΌ
Thanks. You too, take care π
Sat here enjoying the evening
Brings back a lot of memories π
By how you talk you still have a part of you in Greece ππΌ so not a bad place to be .
Yeah, I always will π
That's a good thing , I was looking after my stepfather for five years before he passed away so now in my own place but being alone gives you time to think about many things .
I'm sorry to hear that, a sad time. It does but sometimes you can think too much. You appear to have made some good friends, in life that's invaluable.
So true . Plus I can enjoy the best I can what time I have. ππΌππΌππΌ
A fruitful enjoyable life π
Don't know about fruitful πΉπΉπΉ but I try to enjoy each day ππΌ
And thats the best anyone can do ππ»
So true π
πππ»
Time for my meds yet again. Six times a day my time gets broken into πΉπΉπΉπΉπΉ
The joys lol. A necessary evil
Definitely a must or I stop breathing ππ
At least you can laugh π€£
I have to or go mad πΉπΉπΉπΉ
Can't have that lol
Made me laugh the DWP asked for a time limit as I'm terminal , the oncologist and pulmonologist both compiled a letter saying we are not god nor profess to be but going on average person with this condition 12 /18 months but as we state we are not god . I thought it was a stunning answer
Bloody idiots. Sometimes wonder how they get the job!!
It makes me laugh that a terminal person has to wait until they have six months to live or less to access their pension. How can you enjoy what time you have in six months your probably bed ridden
It's absolutely shocking πΊ
I know
πΊπ
At the end of the day we are all just numbers to them , we pay into the system and while we are not using the cash in our pension pots that's good for the dwp this is part of the increase in pension age πΉ it's a law that needs to be changed so that terminal illness patients get to enjoy the time they have.
Being in a place like this makes you appreciate things so much more.
A very good friend indeed Dave. Lovely. Xxxπ€
Yes he is a good friend . But he's Greek so it's his nature
My favourite meal on a Saturday night. Or scampi and chips. β€
Two racks are a meal and a half πππ
That looks delicious Dave have a good night and take care π Bernadette and Jack π xxxxxx
I will but I'm absolutely stuffed πππ you have a good night to xxxxxx
Looks like it would feed a family
Don't know what dinosaur it was from but bloody nice πππ
Deliciosaurus
I'll tell you to buy that meal is usually eight pounds but you get two racks and a pile of chips I left most of the chips but refused to leave anything but the bones ππππ
Nice to have good friends Dave x
Yes won't argue with that one, but they know I'm not allowed out because of the heat plus now got an added problem that I could have done without . But life throws you lemons put them in ya jd π
Lovely. Last Monday & Tuesday was far too hot too cook I lived on salads
I've been hospitalised yet again for the 6th time because if my oxygen levels dropping dangerously
I know how you feel my O2 levels on a good day are around 55 and the heat being so intense is causing so much problems.
Wow 55on a good day!? For me because of the Interstitial Lung Disease 55 is dangerous & I have to go to hospial urgently. My baseline is 82-94 or higher
I'm a bit annoyed this episode happened on 26th July because it was the day I was supposed to go to South Manchester to the specialised lung clinic there
Sorry either my fingers are too fat or predict text again not 55 75 I hate using my phone for typing π , I remember beginning of last year I had a bad bout of hypoxia and was in and out of hospital several times and it does so much damage , I only have use of my right lung my left is all but collapsed, I spend so much time on my machine taking meds it drives me potty but I keep smiling and each day I wake up is another day to enjoy . Or in my case at the moment cook because it is hot . Not good it fell on an important day for you so annoying ππΌ keep your chin up and keep fighting take care keep safe
Cheers one of my specialist "s doctors came round today & one of the things she talked about ( with mum present as she was visiting) saying if they can't wean me off the oxygen then if it comes to me being sent home with one I have to have another " gas test" (IE arterial injection) first. As soon as she said that I told her I'd already had that done when I came in Tuesday morning & didn't want to do it again given the results said it was ok & I saw no reason to repeat it
And then she said that it was a necessary thing to have done as it is a prescribed thing
I suspect she saw my email to her colleague expressing strongly that I wasn't prepared to repeat it & to not enter discussion about being reconvinced & she has responded by telling her to tell me on her visit to me that without me having this gas test then I can't have the home oxygen
So against my better judgement ( I might describe it as against my will) but better judgement is better I've resigned myself to agreeing to it
If that's if it comes to me having this.
Deep down I'm hoping that I can be weaned off it so I can go home from whatever ward I'm on & remake my appointment at the clinic urgently in South Manchester about Ninetab suitability
Take care my friend
I hope you get the help you obviously need, it's not nice when it's your lungs and breathing !! I started with COPD but being without any prescribed medication for three years it escalated I have small cell c and in a foreign country which I can't leave because of my condition . I'm making the best I can. Listen to your consultant and specialists their trained to help you the best they can . My thoughts are with you take care keep your chin up πππ
Cheers for your reply. I will absolutely listen to my specialist & her colleagues. They do a grand job they explain fully & they're amazing
My thoughts are with you too in your situation. You take care
I am like a cheap Japanese watch I take a kicking but keep on ticking ππππ take care keep safe
That sounds like a saying from 90s gladiators in the game Duel . The commentator says contestant takes s licking but keeps on sticking lol
Yes but when you put I take a licking in the context it sounds disgusting like I have a foot fetish ππππ
Yes I realised after a while I'd written it & I realised what you meant so apologies for that I was a bit tired when I wrote thatYou take good care & keep safe
Are you watching the commonwealth games tonight on BBC 1
Unfortunately I can't get bbc1 here in Greece πππ I don't watch much TV in all honesty I listen to music and spend time outside on my patio.
No need to apologize π I was actually chuckling to myself ππππ
A friend indeed! Looks yummy!
It really was but too much for one person but me being a total carnivor I ate the ribs and didn't eat many chips πππ
I know what you mean. I would be one very cranky vegan!
The chance of me becoming a vegetarian or vegan well more chance of pooping a dinosaur egg ππππ
π
When most kids were eating sweets I was eating some meat products π€£ my mum tried breast feeding when I was a baby but she said she couldn't carry it through she said it was like I was trying to bite the end off so guess I was born carnivorous ππππ
Yummy. I love bbq ribs x
Don't know what dinosaur they came from but can understand why they become extinct ππππππ€£
I wish I had a friend who would order me food that looks really really scrumptious wow. Ha ha yum yum.
My friend as his own restaurant in the village π so he just brought it up to me , both him and his family are great and I tend to share recipe's with his wife πππ
That is very handy he sounds like a really an amazing person. Are you a brilliant cook then? You are the envy of my life. Ha ha lol
I've been cooking since small taught by my gran , always wanted to be a chef but couldn't afford to go college, but people like my cooking especially my cakes and pies π I just love cooking. Keeps my mind active and focused ππΌ
Gosh your gran was a fantastic person showing the ins and out of cooking. I could only cook for the family and that was things like chips, fishmongers, sausages and pies bought from a shop. We were parents and 6 children and there wasn't much money available so we ate a lot of junk food. Although we did have mince and tatties and stews. I used to cook meals for my friend and that was mostly stews and things like that but I lost my confidence with cooking and lived on ready meals up until last year. Then I developed anorexia. I have been trying much more healthy food bug I feel unable to cook meat because it just terrifies me. I agree with you last week especially was too hot out grass round here is all brown what is it like where you live. I do like the sound of your gran I was very close to my maternal gran. I miss her now she's not around but she passed away in 1979 but she never encouraged us too cook. I wish I could cook it must be very satisfying when other people enjoy your food. Such a shame you were unable to become a chef. You most probably are just as good.
Living in Greece is ok but like now extreamly hot . Yes it's better to learn your cooking skills from a grandparent lots of family secret recipes π you should start cooking your confidence will come you just have to try . One step at a time .
Yes you are right I am sure that with time I'm sure my cooking skills will return as soon as I start cooking. I wish you well Daveyboy.
Don't give up on cooking it's good and can be exciting to see how something will turn out
I won't I used go enjoy it it gave me great pleasure cooking for my friend. She is ssooo appreciative. So I won't give up. Take care of yourself.
And you πππΌ
Thankyou.
Thanks never needed we all help each other life is not a walk in the park for any of us so it's nice to have people around for help and support and advice who don't judge. Were always here ππΌππΌππΌ take care and keep safe
I will and you too
You are so lucky to have such a good friend. I hope you enjoyed it. It looks delicious.
It was beautiful but two racks plus chips something had to be cut down so I ate the ribs and a few chips not all of i ππ
