Firstly McCartney I would like to say how sorry I am to hear of the many struggles your dear little Grandson and of course you and your family have and are going through. Have I got this right - are you wanting to get the assessment done for the Hypoxic Challenge because of the time factor? If so, if it were me, I would contact the consultant or his/her secretary and explain. It could well be that the consultant may also be at a private clinic. Persofnally I would prefer to stay within the NHS as your little one’s health issues are complex. You might want to telephone the nurses here at BLF - they are very knowledgeable re paediatric lungs.
Whatever you decide I hope you get the outcome you are hoping for in time for your holiday.
Thank you so much, my grandsons Consultant and Secretary have already been informed about the time limit , McCartney as flown before on 2 occasions and was absolutely fine , We booked this years holiday about 9 months ago , not knowing anything like this was going to happen, We was advised that there was no reason that he would, live a healthy normal life after his op, his Consultant even gave us a letter for airport Security alarms been triggered off , because of Staples been used , for repair ,we've been informed that Sheffield Children's hospital, have received urgent referral, but still no word on appointment for test , really hoping and praying we can get this sorted in time , thank you all so much for your replies, it really means alot xxxx
I am so sorry to read about McCartney 's issues. It is hard for adults let alone children. If I am understanding your post correctly, you need to have him take the hypoxic test challenge before flying, and if need be, he will need 02 to fly? I think cofdrop-UK made a good point about ringing the BLF helpline and also explaining everything to the consultant. I think this does need to be done with some urgency as 02 may need to be arranged with the airline etc. And that does take some time.
