Hi

Experience of flare up.

Quote

Examples of COPD exacerbation symptoms include:

breathing in a fast and shallow pattern, as if you’ve just exercised very intensely

coughing

experiencing shortness of breath at rest or with minimal activity, such as walking from one room to another

feeling excessively sleepy or confused

having lower oxygen levels than normal

noticing increasing amounts of mucus, which is often yellow, green, tan, or even blood-tinged

wheezing more than usual

Basically it’s a worsening of you condition, from your normal. As we are all different, we may have different experiences.

Thanks stone does confuse me as I got those symptoms the other day and get them often when I'm out anywhere ! so I would say I get regular flare ups now but not bad enough for me to panic and feel I should go to a+e although saying that they do imobalise me for say 15 to 20 minutes

Hi

If it’s fairly regular and brought back under control in a reasonable short time! You could count this as your normal. If you can’t fetch it under control or it continues to worsen then you are probably heading for a full blow exacerbation. Do you have a management plan, and rescue medication.

Typical management plan.
