Hospital review
I call them the 'gatekeepers' because I know what you mean! They're lovely enough but not always what we need. Good luck today x
Thanks very much
Hope you get the main man Ger. I know what you mean having attended hospital appointments with Pete.
Wishing you well xxxxxx
Thanks Carol you and Pete are keeping as well as you can be..regards Ger
Thank you so much
My consultant was so loathsome, rude and dismissive that I refused to see him. I insisted on seeing one of his registrars as there were no other consultants. The registrar was absolutely brilliant, very knowledgable indeed........ Just sayin' , they're not all the same. Good luck. P
So true peege ! I had a consultant who was so rude it was beyond belief . He refused to acknowledge I had a lung problem he blamed my breathlessness on my being over weight and to make his point he snapped 'follow me' and walked off down the corridor to show me a comparison map in another room. He finished by saying he didn't want to see me again and literally shoo-ed me out of the room. I was mortified. It was a respiratory nurse who 18 months ,later after that consultant had retired , who persuaded the new one to give me a scan that they found I had severe emphysema. Some consultants act like they hate people. Sorry for lengthy rant!
Thanks peege
You can request to see your consultant but you will need to wait til the end of his/her session. But you are entitled to see them, that what Ive been told and in the past Ive been able to do that - many a long wait at the Homerton in London, but I'd get to him in the end. Eventually they got fed up with me doing that and would make my appointment directly with the consultant, not the registrar. Be militant!!
Great advice thanks had a great relationship with my consultant an American GENTLEMEN but he diddent like how NHS patients were being treated and has returned home.I'll be open minded and see how this go's,thanks again, Ger
I take notes or a letter of what I want to say as the time is usually so limited (bearing in mind how long you have to wait for this 8 minute appointment) I also ask them to keep ‘my note / letter in my notes. If you feel unsatisfied or short changed you could ask to see the consultant. Good luck😊
I hope it all goes well today Hidden . 👋😊
