Bad reaction to Fostair.

I was persuaded to change my asthma medication to Fostair back in January this year, but was anxious about making the change and continued with my old 'brown and blue' inhaler routine until March. When I did change to Fostair as a preventer inhaler I was impressed by how effective it was. I never needed to use the Ventolin inhaler, and felt as if I was asthma free! But 7 or 8 weeks down the line, and I have developed a few problems, the worst is a recurring raised and itchy rash with swollen wheals of raised skin on my neck and rash on my face, neck, chest and back. When I told our local chemist he advised me to stop using Fostair and see my GP. Has anyone else experienced side effects with Fostair?

I have been taking Fostair for a few years now and have had no problems. But we know that what suits some does not suit others. Good idea to see your GP.

Your chemist gave you good advice. Have you seen your GP?

If I experience any problems with my prescription, the first thing I do is Google " side effects of ......". This brings up the official site where you can put your medication in and it will bring ups the info on the drug. It will include best time and way to use it and also possible side effects, reported side effects from common to rarely. If yours symptoms are there, you have the opportunity to"yellow card"your symptoms or at least gives you a bit of armoury when you see your GP. Sometimes they can be a bit reluctant to change your medication but this gives you some back up.

Thank you all for your replies. Urticaria is on the side-effects list for Fostair, but I also suffer from hay fever and wonder now if I was having an allergic reaction to sunlight and pollen. My sleep has improved since coming off Fostair. But it was second to none in eradicating asthma symptoms. I wonder now if the dose just needed adjusting?
