The places that I visit

So peaceful quiet and calm,

Are usually so restful

Acting like a balm

They've suddenly become so busy.

The noise is bad as well.

Where once they were a haven,

Have now become a hell.

I think I know what the cause is,

But don''t want to seem too cruel.

Just between you and me,

I'll be glad when they're back at school.

Brace yourself Don, the 6 week summer break will be here before you know it. Xxx

I enjoy children in their own environment, in the park, on the beach, enjoying themselves. They weren't designed for supermarket use

Too true but look on the bright side, the roads are not as congested due to school runs. :)

That is a very good point. Areas around schools become 'no go' areas.

True, but now the M6 and the A55 near us are chock-a-block with holidaymakers instead.

Well, I'm glad they are off. Just got my next CT Scan appointment and if it was termtime, I would be going home on a 30 minute plus bus ride with a bus full of noisy pupils.

I was a primary teacher for nearly forty years and loved the school holidays. Now I seem to becoming a recluse when the children are off! Even a simple task like doing the weekly supermarket shop, never a job I enjoy, becomes a totally different experience when doing it with parents who think it’s ok for them children to race each other up and down the aisles! I think I’m turning into a grumpy old woman!!!

On a positive note, we went out for a meal on Friday and were put on a table next to a family with two children aged about seven. I dreaded it! However, they were the best behaved kids I have ever seen and it did my heart good to see them eat their meals nicely and quietly and then do some colouring. They left - and then the next family arrived with a two year old. Say no more! We left shortly after. Ha! Ha! What is it they say? I love children but couldn't eat a whole one! xx Moy
