I think you know that you cannot continue to smoke. In the short term I thinka visit to your GP is in order you may need another course of antibiotics. Plus you need to give your lungs time to recover from by sound of it a serious infection. Just because you have finished your medications does not mean that your lungs have recovered from the infection.
In the longer term perhaps you need to look at your lifestyle and make changes into your diet and the amount of exercise you do.
Without a doubt you do need to stop smoking, from what you say this may have started your problems.there is no easy path, sometimes you do have to help yourself and not expect meds to be able to sort everything out for us.
I would advice you go back to the doctors, if your infection is as bad as you say it can really knock your lungs and general well being for a number of weeks.
It's a bummer when you fall off the wagon smoking-wise - been there so many times myself I can empathise, but you have to stop lovey, whatever it takes; you can get away with a lot of things but dragging carcinogenic (cancer-causing) smoke down into your lungs is not one of them. Go back to the doctor so he can see if you need further treatment for that infection then go out and get yourself a lecky-fag and watch the cravings disappear. That is exactly what I did and haven't wanted or needed a ciggie in 8 years and I smoked for 60+. I don't care how you give up but until you do taking pills just won't work. Please try and I wish you the best of luck. Take care.
